Proposal: Miller to Carolina

Miller is a ppg+ player that can slot into c or w. His contract is market value at worst

Agreed.

I happily take Miller at 8m x 7 over Horvat at 8.5m x 8. And, that second contract just got signed. And, these contracts will CONTINUE to be signed.

HF may not value these contracts, but I think GMs do. Just last off-season we saw Miller at 8x7, Gaudreau at 9.75x7, Huberdeau at 10.5x8, and Kadri at 7x7. Out of all of those I happily pick the Miller contract, a PPG center at 8mil per year isn’t bad value.

It's not exactly the "present" that makes these contracts bad. It's in 3+ years. GMs "value" these contracts under the premise that it helps them win now, generally - and the price to pay is something that I'm sure most GMs understand in future negative value (aka the player being overpaid).

Market value =/= good value. And points aren't everything, especially when he's force fed prime minutes.

What's of importance to the Canucks is Miller's value relative to his AAV in 2-4 years, at such time the Canucks might have some semblance of being competitive.

Miller's already a mediocre 5v5 player and will be getting into his mid-thirties by then. To improve their future cap sheet, when it might actually matter, the Canucks absolutely should be moving off Miller's contract immediately. If there's a way to move off it without taking a long-term negative value asset back, the Canucks would be incredibly stupid not to do it.

It's a lot worse outcome than getting Chytil, a 1st, and Lundkvist, but the damage is done.

Canucks have now said they need a centre back for a Miller trade

Kotkaniemi + Morrow for Miller + Hoglander/Rathbone? Please Carolina, you’re our only hope.

I'll bite even though I know it's askin for trouble....

Kotkaniemi + Jarvis + Morrow + Car 1st for EP + Hoglander

Carolina just rebuilt the Canucks.

It’s kind of terrible for Vancouver if Kotkaniemi doesn’t improve. I could be in the minority, but I take the view that KK’s negative value cancels out Carolina’s 1st, so it’s Jarvis + Morrow for EP + Hoglander. I think I’d rather drink from a urinal

Frend I don't want you to drink from a urinal. I want you drinking from a chocolate fondue fountain at a wedding.

I must've missed something...why did you want KK for ppg Miller?

2 blue chippers + a late 1st + a middle 6c seems like a pretty good offer?

Carolina isn't moving Morrow for Miller. Maybe Heimosalmi or Honka. They also do not want or need Hoglander or Rathbone. They just picked up Puljujarvi and Gostisbehere.

Mainly because it makes the team substantially younger while freeing up over $3 million in cap space for the next 7 years, so we can address bigger weaknesses to our roster like defence.

Canucks’ biggest needs are opening up cap space, top 4 defencemen (preferably RHD), and replacing Miller with a younger centre. My proposal hopefully accomplishes those needs.

What high scoring players are not given 1ft PP and offensice zone starts? Please advuse me WHO to make your point anything other than rambaling hot junk?

Also without saying what I think about you and your knowledge of this player and hockey in general ....in a non-insulting way because your post is hot garbage ... Miller over the last 5 years is top 25 in NHL players. But yeah Miller sucks this and that. Get out of your fish bowl. He's 3 spots or slots away from your precious Aho player.

Aho is 5 years younger I get it, but Oh snap look he's 8.4 and up for renewal in 24! Poor Canes look to be shelling out minimum 10 per year over 8 for him. So really Miller who for the most part is similar to Aho in points, will be older over his 8 years yes.. but he will be on the cheap compared to what players moving forward will be will be signed to. That makes him a VERY good bargain now. And a high asset.

Sebastian Aho signed a 5 year, $42,295,000 contract with the Carolina Hurricanes on Jul. 1, 2019. The contract has a cap hit of $8,460,250.

Would you trade Aho for the package you offered?

If Carolina wasn't 2nd in the league and was 12th in my conference (2 points ahead of Arizona) yes.

Blue chipper top 6f - Jarvis
Blue chipper top 4d - Morrow
Middle 6c who is good defensively - kk
1st rd pick.

That's a great package turn turn the team around.

In Vancouver's shoes I'd also try to dump Miller and Boeser...bottom out for a year or two looking for elite forwards and be ready to compete in 3-4 years.

Right now Vancouver is basically Philly west with better pieces to sell.

Lmao. So your outlook on players is nothing more than "look at points column".

Not much more needs to be said.

I'll bite even though I know it's askin for trouble....

Kotkaniemi + Jarvis + Morrow + Car 1st for EP + Hoglander

Carolina just rebuilt the Canucks.

Bro... no LOL

Petey is a 24 year old top 15 player in the league.

31 teams would be calling if Petey is available.

There's no premium asset in there at all.

NJD could easily outbid that in a second lmao.

Freakin' hilarious
