He's an intriguing piece if you can get him at the right price point. Has a bit of an injury history which is concerning.

Having a great start to the year.

I would assume that the Devils would be very competitive in trying to bring him back. The team could use 2-3 more Woods in the lineup. He fits the style of this team to a tee, providing that physicality this team is lacking.

Injuries or not, he seems very popular within the team as well

As far as a number, I think he could sign for 4 - 4.5 mill, but with a player like him it could go anywhere. He could look at the Mikheyev deal and try to swing 5+ million on the open market. At this point, it’s up to him what he’s willing to
play for

If he's getting over 4, I think the devils are just going to be out.

You can understand why Wood would chase top dollar.
He's got to be concerned about career longevity, given how important speed is to his game and his injury history. Can't blame him.

I'd go as high and as long as 3 years at $4M/year. But more than that... I just don't know. Length is the bigger constraint than money.

I think a team paying him to be a top-6 forward would be making a mistake. It will be really interesting to see what happens.

Maybe, but maybe not. His health is the biggest issue. He's producing like a Top 6 guys and brings a lot of qualities you'd want from an energy 2nd line sort.

Reminds me a lot of a lesser version of Nichushkin where I wouldn't be surprised at all if a team gave him $5-5.5M to be a 2nd liner for them and he breaks out with them.

Biggest key is his health.

Really good player. Obviously injuries are a concern. But players sometimes learn how to avoid injuries as they mature and as far as I know, Wood’s injuries have been mostly one-offs and not chronic stuff.
I had hoped he’d slip away from the Devils and the Rangers could get him. He’s exactly the kind of player the Rangers could use in the middle six.

I don’t know, I can’t imagine hip injuries are good long-term. He plays a wrecking ball style too.

I love Miles, but I don’t want the Devils to match what he’ll be able to command on the open market.

The biggest key is his health and how much the cap goes up next year. If the estimates were too excited or the players don’t escalate might not be that 4 million increase. If there isn’t a big cap jump, harder to take the risk with his health, and more likely he stay in Jersey.

Nichuskin and Wood are the same age. I love Wood but he does not have anywhere near the skill that Nichushkin has and he won't drive play. He's a great energy guy with tremendous physical tools and he can bang home some goals.

If a team gives him $5 million they will be very sorry that they did.

Yes, having Miles Wood on the 4th line is a luxury, but that doesn't mean he belongs on the second or even the third line.

He's probably a guy you give 4.5M but could see a team taking Coleman's contract and adding.

Devils will definitely offer something competitive, but I'd wager Boston throws a lot of money his way.

Doubt the Devils are going to be able to keep him. Some GM is going to give him a David Clarkson like contract.

Would be funny if Toronto was the one who did it "again".

Who cares about Wendel Clarkson! We want Wendel Wood!
