And to add to the excitement, which topping do you prefer on your pie?

I'm a pepperoni, bacon and green olive man myself.

Gabriels. I remember when they only had the one place in Orleans. Only place as a kid that compared to old Nikki's Pizza on Montreal Rd in Gloucester.

As for toppings...need to have bacon, pepporoni, peppers...anything but mushrooms and anchovies.

Edit: never tried Milanos....where is it?

I have had pizza with those toppings a few times and enjoyed it, but it was usually at "fancier" pizza places. Greasy take-out pizza just screams for pep n' bacon.

After living in a house with 5 other guys for a good while I got tired of "typical greasy pizza" so we experimented.

I had to twist a few arms, especially in getting them to accept to try thin crust, but they all eventually saw the light.

Oh sure, for DIY pizza I'd totally go for that style, and have actually done so myself at home, but I find that when ordering at places like Gabriel's, I can't bring myself not to add the typical toppings for maximum greasy deliciousness.

Gabriels > Milano's

Lorenzo's > Milano's

Louis Pizza is by far the best though, by a country mile.

Tomatoes on pizza is really good. Reminds me of the old Fat Albert days as a kid (they always seemed to put tomatoes as part of their pizza toppings).

Chicken...depends how it's done. Some of the greasy places use chicken cubes....that feels a bit 'clunky' for a pizza. Thin shredded chicken bits seems to have a better texture for me, although I haven't seen any places that do it that way.

I only like thin crust when it's coming right out of the oven. if it gets delivered it softens too much.

This thread is sad both these spots suck.

Let's have some respect for food quality and taste. I know ottawa isn't NYC when it comes to Pizza but we got some good spots like House of Georgies on Elgin St, or Palermo's on tapiola. If you wanna go corporate go to Boston pizza there pizza is pure quality and I don't mind paying for it. There a bunch of other good spots that I can't think of off the top of my head

Feta cheese, chicken and tomatoes

It's better than it sounds
Gabriel's makes a Pollo Alfredo pizza with chicken, broccoli, red pepper, feta, mozza, and Alfredo sauce. It's not on the menu anymore but they make it when you ask for it. By farmy favorite from there. Along with the gabriel garlic dip. mmmmmmm

I'll nominate Willy's as the best. The one in Kanata at least is by far the best pizza place in the west end.

I'd probably throw Willy's in my top 3.

1. San Marino's in Barrhaven. Been around since the late 80's. Phenomenal pie.

2. Colonade - on Metcalfe in Centretown, Kanata, and Barrhaven.

3. Willy's - many locations; love their bacon.

Boston pizza........... Boston. Pizza. I wouldn't pay Boston pizza for a French fry let alone a pizza.

I'm sold. Will definitely try this next time I'm home.

Is there a best pizza + gravy combo?

I like the Georgie Special (mushroom, onion, olives, tomato, bacon) + pepperoni. Then small side gravy.

Is that the place off Elgin? I remember going there after the bar and enjoying it.

Yup, Elgin and Cooper I think?

To the American wondering, I don't put the gravy on top of the pizza and eat. You just dunk it in like you would a garlic sauce.

This post just did more to damage your credibility than anything you write in GDTs.

Boston Pizza is brutal.
