Mikko Rantanen was one of my favorites for a long time. Even though I soured on the dude during the last two years, he has elite talent like pretty much no one else in the league.

I though we drafted a mid six winger.. and the Moose proved me that he was going to be a lot better than that when he scored at over ppg with San Antonio Rampage as a teenager. Damn what a player he was when he wanted to. I think it was 18-19 season where Mikko absolutely teared the league a new one during the first few months of the season. He was a Jagr/Forsberg hybrid. Not lite, but a love child.

It's a sad day. I think the Avs absolutely made the right call, but it's a very sad day for me personally. I have a Duchene jersey, I have a Rantanen jersey and a Makar jersey. I need Makar to stay as an Av for as long as possible..

Good bye Mikko. I already liked the Canes, hopefully you win more cups there or wherever you end up to (as long as it's not against the Avs). Love you.

He's one of the best offensive players in the history of the Avs, a franchise that has had a lot of offensive firepower through the years.

Sure he has his flaws with a lack of balance, effort and physicality at times but his ability to create offense is exceptional.

He's been helped by playing with the players he played with and they have been helped by playing with him. It's been a pleasure cheering for him.

Question is if his jersey will be retired. Ending on a semi-sour note and all that.

Unfortunately, we all knew that this moment was coming. With Mikko, an incredibly deserving player is leaving. The Avs will never be the same (for better or worse). I will always associate Bambi with the Cup. Thanks for everything Moose
 
I started following the Avs when he got drafted here. This is my team now. He might have left, but I'm staying.

It's amazing how good he has been. He was certainly drafted with first line expectations, but nobody thought he'd be a Top 10 player in the world. And we can all tell there's still room to improve (hence the constant comments about laziness). Most importantly he won the cup here and was an integral part of the team.

I expected we'd lose him, but the increase in cap space made it a real possibility that he stays. Sadly it seems that the same increase also made him want more money, thus leading us back to the previous impossible situation. I'm excited about Necas and I hope he won't end up like Mitts as that would crush us all. It is a downgrade for this years playoffs, but not by as big of a margin as it could have been if Necas and Drury are as good as people have been saying (I'll judge them when I see them play).

I wish all the best for him. No reason to be mad about it, at least he didn't string us along and then abandon us at UFA.

I know it sucks. I also know there are a lot of folks upset, angry and hurt over it. I get it all and their aren't any wrong feelings. I think I'm just a bit numb to it because I've been through it with losing Foppa and Footer to the cap when it was first implemented. Since its inception the salary cap has kinda f***ed the Avs while rewarding teams like Vegas.

Anyways, just wanted to say that I, for one, am happy you weren't included in the trade. Being an Avs fan means going all in for the bad as well the good. The great thing about the Avs is that they don't wait 58+ and counting years between cup finals, like some others.
