Only was able to watch the 3rd - @evnted was quite accurate based on my viewing.

Hard to be anything but pleased - the size and athleticism played in game one, looking forward to how he progresses with more game time.

And real coaching and trainnng for probably the first time ever

I had the BC/BU game on TV2 and was watching that during commercials/stoppages of NJD/MON. Not sure if it was the vague size similarity and #40, but Yegorov reminded me a bit of Akira Schmid.

Hard to scout goalies but only giving up 1 goal on 20 something shots is not a bad NCAA debut. I didn't know he was going to be able to join BU during the season but it doesn't hurt to get him some games. At worst he should be their backup or split starts next season if the goaltending really was that bad.

I just want him to be a longterm solution in goal for the Devils. Markstrom and Allen have been great but it's a toss up if Poulter has NHL chops. Daws has had such a tricky 4 years since being drafted. He's had his moments but, injuries, inconsistent play and having to play behind a Ruff defensive system kind of hampered his development. He's still pretty young at 24 but next season he is on a 1 way deal. I'm not confident in him being sloted into the backup role.

Malek is one to keep an eye on as well. Between him and Yegorov we might have a longterm starter. I was pretty happy we took Yegorov even though we need skilled forwards and centers in the pipeline a bit more. With those 3 2nd round picks this summer the Devils could try to adress that. Hopefully players fall in the draft to our laps.

This maybe isn’t the most interesting info but 10 days ago, Corey Pronman had Yegorov ranked as the #31 NHL prospect drafted outside the first round (only six slots above Rempe ).

For a guy who’s usually pretty low on goalies, that seemed pretty high to me, though Yegorov is the 4th highest G in the list. Highest was Philly’s Zavragin at #5.

Just watched his save recap, that was impressive. Over half of the shots were of the high danger to moderate danger variety. The only one that beat him was a perfect shot rebound goal.

There are things to work on over the next two years, his glove looks awkward.

I always confuse this stuff....so obviously he is a freshman now, I assume that would mean we would waant to sign him after his junior season which would be 26-27? or does the new 5th year senior stuff change things?

Nothing changes, contract-wise. It's like he went to college in October. Yegorov is eligible to be a UFA on August 15, 2028.

I think it's unlikely he would sign after next season for a few reasons but the biggest one is just that it accelerates his waiver clock for no real benefit. If a goalie signs at 19 he gets 5 years of waiver ineligibility and if he signs at 20 he gets 4, so there's no difference, but if he signs at age 21 he also gets 4. He'd have to have an incredible season for the Devils to be considering that, IMO.

At some point you may make the choice that an extra year of waiver exemption is worth the tradeoff to have him in house, depending on the makeup of the goaltending system.

I just don't see the benefit. If BU is somehow mistreating him, he can transfer to another school. There shouldn't be any thought of him getting into NHL games in 2026-27, so that cannot possibly matter. Basically if you can avoid having a 20 year old goalie in the AHL, I think you do that.
