truthfully, i dont hate this. obviously, those types of totals are obscene, and i wish omaha wasnt the tire fire it is, but i kinda like him facing a lot of shots on a regular basis. gives him more exposure to high danger chances/greater overall pressure, gets him more reps with breakdowns and follow-up attempts, really sort of puts a spotlight on him if he misjudges an angle or fails to track the puck or overshoots his crease (since the guys in front of him arent gonna bail him out)

if yegorov didnt have the mental fortitude and bounce back ability that he does, i might be more concerned, but this guys pretty unshakable. and even further, for a player like him who is still fairly raw, i want that high workload, i want that level of exposure/experience under his belt. to me, this is preferable to him being 3rd string in college or, compared to some others in his class, hidden behind a really dominant junior defense posting much better numbers
When Omaha is waaaay worsest team in the league with awful -40 goal differential, Yegorov is top-5 goalie with 91.2%. I will not dive into SA, HDSA, xGA and all of this per game, I just believe he will face tonns of practice and looks like he is doing it better with time. So good to see.
May be we will finally develop our own goalie. I want to believe. At least he has some legit reasons to be a pain in the balls for opponents.

Locked on Devils had a good interview of him on YouTube.....
great call out. showed the character/authenticity everyone raves about, very well spoken and humble. super complimentary of omaha in spite of how much of a mess they've been. his genuine laugh after the host said he hopes shesterkin never wins a cup was pretty good lol

some cool insight into his move to the ushl/commitment to BU, knowing silayev, and his work with his mental coach. seems to be keenly aware of his strengths and weaknesses, too. i appreciate that he said his goal was to be a starter, not just make the nhl. anyones guess what hes gonna become, but super easy to cheer for

hard to blame him for wanting out given how disastrous the team is (that LOD interview is now funny in hindsight lol) but some reservation from my end over how many starts he'll actually get the back half of the season. hope it works out. cant believe he dipped before i got a full d+1 viewing in lol

editing in his legendary stat line this season. love the disparity between his sv% and gaa/record vs the others in this pic lol

BU still has 15 regular season games left this season and the goaltending has not been good:

Caron held down the net last season (his first at BU as a Junior) with a 2.35 GAA & .915 SV% playing in every game, but those numbers have clearly dropped this season.

Have to figure Yegorov gets a few shots this season and has the opportunity to take over in net.

Also saw yesterday that Yegorov made Pronman's list of top U23 players, coming in at #139. Last on the list, but still very good overall considering this covers 5 drafts.

Good to know his skating and hockey sense are average, if we need to develop him into a 3C instead.

devastated i didnt make it back until 8 bc that penalty sounds like it wouldve been funny to witness live. in any case, impressions of periods 2 and 3:
  • even at the collegiate level he presents very large. not much net to shoot at when hes on his angle, especially up high
  • movements were super quick/snappy per usual. great extensions on saves, quick reflexes on follow up chances, down in the butterfly in a hurry, tons of microadjustments to stay square to shooters. big man shouldnt move this easily
  • huge kick save on leonard in alone. great composure on both the initial attempt as well as the ensuing scramble for second and third chances. this is his thing, completely unaffected by play breaking down, odd man rushes, high danger chances, etc. doesnt really bite on first moves either
  • rebound control was kinda rough. trouble swallowing pucks and even just settling them at times. BC wasnt always getting to them (well, it looks like they did on the 1st goal at least lol) but too many follow up chances were available out front
  • glove was tracking pucks well but he struggled to get clean catches at times (both this and swallowing chances are known issues with yegorov)
this was an impressive performance, particularly for a debut. deservedly getting some early attention from non-prospect people/general college hockey fans. obviously cant read too much into one showing, but i wasnt bracing for him to look this good right off the bat. gave BU a chance to win

Only was able to watch the 3rd - @evnted was quite accurate based on my viewing.

Hard to be anything but pleased - the size and athleticism played in game one, looking forward to how he progresses with more game time.
