2031?!!

wtf

I think that's an indication along with the expected small annual payments (from the OC register article) that all sides recognize that the Kings stood a very good chance of winning. Maybe even probable.

I never bought into the CBA arguments for the Kings side and that is why I never argued them. I didn't think those were winning arguments.

ICE issues on the other hand, those trump the CBA.

Posted this in the other thread, but

Just wondering aloud, but I'm wondering if one of the reasons both sides settled was the uncertainty of a work visa. That's an all or nothing gamble for either site. Even if a minor charge, he could either keep it or lose it and between that and this dragging out until at least the end of the trial it would seem risky on either part.

For example--MR wins arbitration, is back on the Kings, loses trial, gets contract completely terminated and gets nothing.

Just a lot of moving parts with much less than 100% certainty it seems.

2031?!!

wtf

lol!

In 2031, my now 2 year old daughter will be able to play lotto and buy cigarettes. From the privacy of her biodome. She'll come across my memoirs and go "Who is this Mike Richards character that made my dad exile himself from the Internet?"

I wonder how many Cups the Kings will win between now and 2031.

Giving it a shot...

2016: SC win
2017: SC win
2018: WCF exit
2019: Miss playoffs
2020: SC win
2021: WCQF exit
2022: Miss playoffs
2023: WCF exit
2024: SC win
2025: Miss playoffs
2026: SC win
2027: WCF exit
2028: SCF exit
2029: Miss playoffs
2030: WCQF exit
2031: SCF exit

In all, that translates to 5 more Cups. Go ahead and make your own predictions.

Got a crib with a office and it's all full of terminated contracts
To add to the wall full of plaques
Hanging up in the office in back of my house like trophies
Did y'all think I'ma let Richards play next season, ho please
You better bow down on both knees

Cups? Who you think taught you to win these?
Who you think brought you the oldies?
Carter's, Gaborik's, S.T.O. double L's, and the Matt Greenes
And a group that said motherf*** New Jer-sey?
Gave you a coach full of dope speech
To bump soundbytes when you stroll through your hood
And when your point stats wasn't doing too good
Who's the GM that they told you to go see?
Ya'll better listen up closely
All you n****s that said that I turned soft
and traded for Sekera
ya'll are the reason "Da Dean" ain't been getting no sleep
So F*** ya'll, all of ya'll
If other GMs don't like me, blow me
I'll circumvent the cap if ya'll gonna keep f***in' around with me
And turn me back to the old me

Here's my contribution:

**** **** ****a ****a ****a mutha ****a

That's the best I could do.

If I was being honest I would admit that I want what is best for the kings and that richards is an after thought

That's been my stance all along. I don't think I misled anyone that was part of the witch hunt on the main board. They have been trying to pass off their opinion and emotion as fact the entire saga when in reality nobody really knew or knows much other than a border incident. Some how that was enough evidence to for the junior lawyers to make a judgement.

I thought I had it all figured out, I did
I thought I was tough enough to stick it out with the Kings
But I wasn't tough enough to juggle so many minutes at once
I found my NMC laying on it's knees in cuffs
Which shoulda been a reason enough, for me to get my stuff
And just leave, how come I couldn't see this **** myself?
It's just me, nobody couldn't see the **** I felt
Knowing damn well the contract wasn't gonna be there when I fell
To catch me, the minute **** was heated, Dean just bailed
I'm standing here swinging at like thirty agents by myself
I couldn't even see the offer when it fell
Turned around saw Chiarelli stashing the contract in his belt
Saw the Kings rush him and beat him to the ground
I just scored four points, I don't need to be lowballed
I'm not about to lose my NMC over no GM gall
I need to slow down, try to get my feet on solid ground, so for now

Saying goodbye, saying goodbye to Hollywood
Saying goodbye, saying goodbye to Hollywood
Saying goodbye, saying goodbye to Hollywood

Holy crap. It's over. It's finally over.

Now... Just 16 more years and it will finally be over.

16 years is absurd.

The NHL and NHLPA need to come together and give teams leeway to buy-out/eliminate at least 1 contract every 6-7 years so long as there is adequate compensation for the player which is cap exempt.

And every team should be able to to do it so that it's not just the Kings or some other team. That was my only problem with hit as a fan, that one team would get to do something and then other teams would likely be denied if trying the same thing later on.

Many, many of those people just wanted to see Richards get paid for not playing and see the Kings get the maximum f'ing over in terms of the cap. Not a single one of them are honest enough to admit it though.

When the next CBA negotiation occurs, it will be the end of the guaranteed contract.

I doubt other teams would be stopped given the situation being the same. People keep talking about this as if the Kings just said "**** it" and ripped up the contract when, at the very least, there's an impending legal situation and an un-named 'material breach.' I would have zero problem with another team 'trying' this if there were appropriate circumstances; the problem is, you could probably count the number of contracts that have the combination of "we want to get rid of this guy" and "this guy did something that we could potentially get rid of him for" other than sucking on one finger.
