Thanks, not sure if no response after 1 week is a good thing or a bad thing at this point. Im hoping that since the PA didnt challenge right away means they are heavily investigating everything and seeing if they have a case. Lets do this Deano !

Replace Martinez with Forbort keep Voynov , get Kopi and Lucic on reasonable contracts. Shouldnt be to hard lol.

You're acting like the NHLPA should just rush to it. They are getting their facts in order.
Don't know if it's them, the Canadian government, or his agent but they have kept such a tight lid on this it's not funny. And really unless they had damage control to do why would they rush in. Most pundits are on their side. So they are in a win win. They get to take their time and have everything in order once they do speak.
I don't think it will matter what he has done or if he wants it fought, they will fight it. They want the process to run it's course.

Can we have a separate Martinez-bashing thread?

Because I'm tired of all the "trade Martinez" talk. If y'all can meet in one place and stop littering the Kings board with this nonsense that would be great. Because then I wouldn't have to see it and I wouldn't be bothering y'all as well.

A match made in heaven.

How many player discussion threads can one board have? Seems like we need one for every damn player!

I forget which pundit mentioned it but allegedly it was the player agency telling them to keep a lid on it else legal action or something to that effect, don't take that as gospel, I'll have to really dig for the tweet. Without that, it makes sense that a legal investigation keeps that under wraps, yet yes, many have also mentioned expect it to be a long, drawn out thing...so maybe it's not as cut and dry as some of us have speculated.

Found this in local paper on July 2nd. States incident happened mid June at a border crossing. It's close to Stoll's hometown, not Richards, but the right timeframe. Not sure if it is related or been discuss. If their are org crime ties that could be bad and investigations could be ongoing.

Doesn't look like it is related, as Richards was stopped at the Emerson boarding crossing, just south of Winnipeg. There is no mention of the Emerson boarding crossing.

Thanks, good catch

I remember hearing that as well. But I think they would have a hard time keeping the press off of this for this long. That it must be something or someone bigger than the agent doing it. Like the way the Canadian law is written.

I remember hearing or reading something about reporters not reporting on the issues for fear of a slander suit against them. Not sure where I got that from though.

Slander or libel have to be untrue statements. Reporters are allowed to report on known facts.

I have a feeling that we are not hearing anything because of a media gag order, meaning a large ongoing investigation, or because a minor was involved.

Also, people that are well respected in the industry have already said there is a lot more to this than Richards carrying a few oxy pills in his pocket as he crossed the border.

I tend to trust people like McKenzie when they say something like that, because they have REAL sources.

if there was a media gag order, how did TMZ and Winnipeg Sun initially report on the Oxy part of things? TMZ i could see simply ignoring that, but Winnipeg Sun?

something still doesn't add up here, this is getting weirder every day that no news is released

Didn't the Sun use TMZ as a source?

TMZ has never respected any kind of gag order or other country's privacy laws. Like the National Enquirer, they realize they can make more money of the the drama the lawsuit creates than they pay out

I could have sworn that it was independently reported, there was more detail from the Sun reporter than TMZ if I recall correctly.

it says "a source" which basically could mean anything.

I find it more and more interesting how no new info is coming out. Ha there ever been a case like this in any sport where every reporter is basically silent? Something bizarre had to happen.

this monkey heard from an unreliable source that Richards was smuggling chupacabras up north to attack the mounties. that is pretty serious stuff and can see why the press does not want to release this information. Widespread panic could be had inf Canadians knew they were now dealing with chupacabras.

That completely explains the media blackout

David Pagnatta from Fourth Period was hosting a show on the Sirius Hockey Channel last Friday and basically refused to comment on the situation. They all say the same thing, they refuse to comment and then threaten that the situation is much deeper than the public knows.

Seems odd that something is so serious that the media can't speak about it at all (other than to say its serious) yet no charges have been laid or arrests made. Richards was stopped at the border almost a month ago now. You'd think if it was so serious something would have come forward out of this.

How bad must it be that his engagement was broken off? Don't know any story other than him and his fiancee are no longer together. Who knows what the hell is going on with Richards away from the ice, but I'd say that it had something to do with his on-ice performance.

These things take time. Looking at the other Kings players. It took a month for Voynov to get charged. I think 2 months for Stoll to be charged. The Richards case has only been about 3 weeks now.

yes, but my point is with Voynov and Stoll it was reported immedaitely. It was like a day after Stoll was reported as having molly that it was being reported. Voynov wasn't even out of jail from being arrested at the hospital and it was all over the media, sports and non-sports media. You don't need charges for the media to turn it into a frenzy. Yet on Richards nothing, other than it's 'serious.'

Voynov was suspended before he even made bail. That is how fast things go out and the ball was rolling.
Where with this we still don't have anything other than it was Oxy. It happened on said date. The Kings found out about it 10 days later at draft. They took that night and the next day to figure what to do and then made their decision as to what to do.
