Unless he could magically regain a 50+ point form, no. We already have a glut of centers and we don't need to add one with a bad contract.

That being said, if he did somehow regain 50+ point form and still played a solid 2 way game, a Johansen-Richards-Dubi-Letestu would be a fantastic center group for next season. But 2-3 years down the line I would definitely rather see Wennberg or Jenner or whoever in that spot rather than Richards.

So.. no thanks. I'll pass on Mike.

No way. He doesn't add much to our team for his cap hit, Additionally the cap recapture problems he poses are very serious.

No. Other than this captaincy/leadership thing, which is literally all that 30% of the fanbase talks/thinks about (they're no longer hockey fans at this point honestly), he brings nothing to a table

bad contract, bad player, if we wanted him we'd have given a 5th round pick for him by now.

Richards wouldn't be a Horton replacement even if we had a time machine.

Richards has five years left at a salary-cap hit of $5.75-million and possible recapture penalty risk.
I beginning to like Alex Wennberg :laugh::laugh:

No. Absolutely not. Next silly question?

;)

He is not the player we might have gotten two or three years ago. Nowhere near. If y'all thought Umbie's decline was bad, there's no way y'all would survive Richards.

If they're putting him on waivers, I think that clearly speaks as to what his potential "value" is in the league......they wouldnt be giving him away for free if they could get anything at all.....although I dont know how many more years he has on the contract

This is a great opportunity, imo. I don't even care about the contract. The Jackets have enough cap space to take this gamble.

1 bad season in LA doesn't make Mike Richards a bad player. And besides, with LA's depth, he's not getting much ice time. He hasn't had the chance to produce.

The Jackets' Forward depth is nonexistent. We literally have one scoring line. Mike Richards has the potential to help that out.

The responses in this thread have been shocking. I expected to see "YES! Claim him now!"
Different people have different viewpoints I suppose...

I think you'd see more people saying "sure, claim him" if his contract expired at the end of this season or next, but it doesn't
