Honestly, as much as Petey would likely need to step up, I think some new additions also need to step up. Heinen and DeBrusk need to start being more of a factor offensively. Hoggy needs to be that same Hoggy we saw at the start of the season.

If we can get through this game and this upcoming road trip in good shape, it'll be such a boost whenever Miller, Boeser, and Demko are back. This can really bring a team together.

We'll find out pretty quickly if ep is worth his top dollar contract.

Put me firmly in the large doubt camp.

Miller
  • Indefinite in the sense that we don’t know how long he’ll be gone
  • Nothing to do with the benching
  • Don’t speculate
  • He’s a family member here and we support him
  • Miller is his own worst critic
  • Is an emotional leader; takes it upon himself every night and it’s hard to do
  • We’re hockey players and you deal with things as a coach
  • Tocchet and Miller talked yesterday
  • Says he has a great relationship with Miller
  • Everyone will need to give an extra 5-10% extra
  • There’s a reason why everyone chants his name
Garland
  • Wife might give birth today
Adversity
  • Have dealt with a lot of stuff this season; mentions Joshua’s cancer
  • Have a pretty good record considering all they have had to deal with
  • Are playing good hockey in some spots and not good in others
  • Are a resilient group
  • Is a positive in that some good young players will get a chance
Desharnais
  • Will need to talk to him to determine if he’s good to go
Boeser
  • Forbort and Boeser skated today
  • Once you starting skating in consecutive days, you’re getting close to returning
Demko
  • Will travel on the road trip
  • Looking really good in practice
  • Has put a lot of good practices together
Silovs
  • Starting tonight
5-On-5
  • One of the best teams at retrievals and possession time
  • Retrieval rate is not good in the defensive end
  • Not really worried about the offense since they are getting the puck
  • Is concerned about the defensive end because they are defending so much and getting tired

That's a bit of good news on Brock.

For the next few games...would love to see what EP can do with more time with QH/Hronek.

Even before the Miller news hit, I thought we'd have a tough time tonight against this Rangers team. For some reason, they play us physically tough in our barn. I remember Kreider doing a dirty elbow smack on Petey a few years ago.

But we had one of our best games at Madison Square last year against Shesterkin. We also had Demko in goal, and Brock & Miller.

Hope the guys make a game of it tonight. They have every excuse for losing, but maybe we'll have a happy surprise.

Really can't find myself getting too emotional during this game. If the Canucks gut out a win, sure but a loss feels like an inevitable result.

the canucks only have 22 players on the active roster right now (according to puckpedia although the fact that boeser is not on ir and miller is according to them makes me skeptical it's accurate) so i wonder why they didn't call up another forward. aman (and twarynski who is probably the next guy up after him?) played in bakersfield today. they could have got him on a plane to vancouver in time for the game. i guess they maybe expect garland back or the miller thing was only decided this morning?

I don't need a win tonight but I want to see some spine. An undermanned Canuck squad putting in a hard 60 minute effort but still losing is an acceptable outcome. I don't want to see the team roll over.

Forgot to add, if ever there was a time for Silovs to show the potential that Ian Clark saw in him, it's this game and the road trip to come.
