Hutson and Guhle are completely outplaying Matheson.

Not sure yet that their levels are sustainable, but if ithey are, that is gggggggreat! Can't have enough top-4 defencemen! GO team GO!!

He needs to be moved.
No, he does not. No one is untradeable, and we would be foolish to not consider a core player in return for him, if one were offered, but otherwise Matheson is someone to build around, not look to get rid of.

Well for Hudson sure but not for Guhle, it's been two seasons of Matheson being f***ing shit.
Take another look at Matheson's numbers for 2022-23

The only argument for Matheson is numbers. It's the same argument as Gus, TDA and Gost.

TDA has issues on different levels.

Matheson is worlds better than both Gost and Gust at winning puck battles as well as in skating and stamina. He also recovers from the errors that any sub-$7M D makes better than almost anyone, due to his very high compete level.

The fans who are booing Matheson... These fans aren't real fans... Matheson was ready die for the Habs last season! And this how these fans are thanking Matheson???
It's not a lack of effort. He might be trying too hard sometimes. He's better than this year's Jeff Petry in Detroit.

Many fans take it too far and treat players like circus animals, using the game day environment as an excuse to say and do things they otherwise wouldn’t do in public or say on social media.

Hopefully this eases as the team starts winning more often.

Matheson is great as the offensive side of a 2nd pairing. Could play 20-23 minutes, play on PP2. Too bad Struble is a lefty as well, would be a good fit IMO. Why not Matheson/Savard though? Why are we in a hurry to trade a hometown D who just scored 60+ points, is loved in the locker room, and fills a gap in the lineup? Please don't let this be Brisebois all over again.

I'm.ok with Matheson - Savard. But I'd like to see Matheson - Struble and Xhekaj - Savard. I like the idea of a vet with a young guy and then Hitson - Guhle.

What do we do until Struble is back with Barron? Maybe Matheson - Savard and Xhekaj - Barron. Or Matheson - Barron, Xhekaj - Savard. Maybe Matheson plays more responsible when he's got to be big brother to Barron.

If Struble was a RD that'd be a great fit, but not sure I wanna play a young D on his off-side with a D like Matheson.

W I think we'll see how he does at RD when he's healthy, whether with Xhekaj or Matheson, and then go from there. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work.

Brisebois was a different era and different situation.

Fans were ready to boo in that era. Roy, turgeon, brsiebois, Malakhov all got the raspberry.

When brisebois signed his deal, it was the richest deal in canadiens history. Brisebois thinks it went bad the very next day when Jack Todd wrote an article with the headline reading 17 million dollars wasted.

He said he received death threats, and people were heckling him on the street.

It didn't stop until gainey came in and called out those "fans" with scathing remarks.

in contrast, Matheson did not sign anywhere near the richest deal in Habs history. His cap hit is 4.88M. Today, this buys you middle pair dman.

I dont think fans are generally as fanatical today. The ones that have the biggest crusade against a player generally tend to stay behind a keyboard, which is harmless in contrast.
