Matheson is not worth more than 2 2nds. Full stop, no contending team is gonna go out of there way to add a guy like that. He’s being carried by his rookie partner who is the true #1d on the team with Guhle.
He’s can barely defend adequately.


He is 30 turning 31 in 1 month.
His above average athletic abilities will soon leave him and he will be even more useless as he can’t cover his defects.
How much more maturing and improving do you see?

The ONLY reason MM is quarterbacking the second PP is the guy quarterbacking the first PP is even better and trying to win the Calder. If Hutson had a decent shot, good grief, we may have a top 5 PP. Listen kid. I know it’s tough to understand, but I’ve watched him then, I’ve watched him now. He’s not that good. A defender who can’t defend and is wildly inconsistent on offence is not a player you win with. Florida understood this, Pittsburgh understood this.
We will get this when we have serious aspirations.

Honestly I think he's a 20-20 guy, that's what he is capable of, that's why has the contract he does and it's why other teams want him, I'm sorry but 3 million a year for that is completely reasonable.

Except he's never really approached those kinds of numbers outside an outlier season where he had an insane shooting percentage. You csn say other teams want him but there were credible reports that the Canucks were actively shopping him earlier in the season yet he's still a Canuck. I think he's a borderline cap dump, but I guess we'll see what the future brings.
