Save Baby Jesus! The guy has been playing the best hockey in his career, on the worst team in the league last season and the start of this. His marriage-problems are behind him and other issues. If his teammates actually could score he would have a lot more points. One of the best setup-players in the league and can play C and W. At 5M/yr he would absolutely be an asset on a team contending as a setup-man, if he only would have a scorer on his line.

2023-2024 69gp 12g 48a 60p on SHARKS

2024-2025 6gp 0g 6a 6p on SHARKS

Last game he got 0+1 again. He setup maybe 4-5 chances to score additionally, but his teammates absolutely cant finnish.
Could be a good option for the Bruins and i can see a good match too with Marchy and Coyle

Wanted him to be a leaf for a while.

He'd be a top trade option for teams looking for forwards. Unfortunately, I can see the price getting pretty high.

If Granlund gets moved, it's probably for a 2nd and a mid-level prospect with like a 4th rounder going to a 3rd team to retain 50%. I don't see it being that high.

Truly bizarre how bad he was in Pittsburgh. Showed absolutely nothing. I thought he was on his way out of the NHL. Seems is becoming a trend with those that get away from Sullivan.

A point per game on that trash-ass Sharks team is very impressive. Retain 50% and contenders should be lining up to ship the cart for him.

Sullivan hates skill players who need to play with even a lick of freedom.

But it's interesting since Granlund has always been functional even in grindy system hockey teams.

Would love him on the Canes. Seems like all the new forwards are fitting in pretty well but this seems like the type of swiss army knife option for the top 6 that would help with creating even better depth and flexibility.

He has produced as a Shark, but the thing is he gets an insane amount of minutes. He's averaged over 21 minutes per game as a Shark. That puts him in top10 in the league among forwards. It's doubtful he would be as effective on a contender in a more limited role. And I'm not sure which contenders could put him on a top line. Maybe Boston?

I agree he shouldn’t be playing that much on a contender. But if he can give 14 great tweener minutes and have PP2 opportunities, I bet he’d contribute a lot even if the numbers don’t look like they do in SJ.

Granlund to the Preds makes too much sense:

Forsberg-Stamkos-Granlund
Nyquist-O'Reilly-Marchessault
Jankowski-Novak-Sissons
L'Heureux-Parssinen-McCarron
Smith, Evangelista

With better linemates, maybe.

He's really enjoying hockey in San José and it shows. He's allowed to use his big bag of tricks and make more choices than he would elsewhere.

Granlund is basically what he was in Nashville; a very good 2nd-line center on a contending team, or perhaps a passable winger on the first-line. In SJ, he gets a lot of ice time/opportunity, but of course his linemates aren't very talented.

Evangelista isn't going to be sitting on the bench, and no way in heck Brunette is ever going to sit Smith, we are tired of hoping for that. Also Stamkos in no way or fashion is a 1st line center.

Also the odds that Parssinen ever gets to play is pretty low. Don't ask us why, its just Brunette.

Granlund is a subpar 2nd line C on a contending team.

Look at the final 4 teams last year and who look their Cs were.

Granlund is a "decent" 2nd line C on a 8-15 type team. Don't oversell him.

What's funny is I wouldn't trade Granlund back to Pitts for EK65 straight up even if Pitts retained.
I'm probably in the minority on this but I'd do the swap straight up.

Would love to see EK65 flying Celebrini out of the zone. + we got Dickinson out of it. Well worth it IMO.
