I don't have a problem with him making $8.5M, being a new dad, and sucking at hockey. I'm a new dad and would kill for that.

I have a problem because this is the salary cap era, and he stinks. Your 1C costing $8.5m through 2030 and having +/- of -13 on the year guarantees you cannot win the Cup. If he could be bought out such that he was given the lump sum of his contract and NYR didn't incur a cap hit, I would love that.

Yikes man, you're usually a way better poster than this. I get that Zibanejad is probably gonna end up being an albatross but you can't just tell someone to "suck it up". If it were that easy, people would legit do it, stuff like this leads into other grotesque shit if you don't get it fixed.

As for the NYR part, they made their bed on that deal and the NHLPA is not gonna allow some team to just void a contract because of that. He had concussion issues previous to Drury being an imbecile and inking that contract, why wasn't an issue raised then? Drury also could've flipped him after getting Eichel from Vegas which was also talked about. The Rangers have no one else to blame but themselves and they aren't/shouldn't get out of jail free card in this regard.
no he isn't

or you must have missed the jack vs kaapo debates?

So my team needs to carry one of the worst contracts in the league and basically carry dead space at times because he’s a baby?

Would you like that for your own team?

Do you think most NHL’ers (let alone people in society) don’t have some moments that might constitute a panic attack? Yeah, and most just suck it up and get on with it.

Not telling the guy he can’t get help or sit out games, but if he doesn’t want to fulfill his contract responsibilities because of his panic attacks, his contract really should be voided.

Everything about this post is laughable. His panic attacks will be painted on medically from his concussion issues, which come from playing hockey as a member of the nyr. Which means he will go on ltir and not voided his contract.

Clown opinion is a clown opinion. Only an American would think the financial issues supercede anything and deserves his contract voided.

Because a panic attack isn’t a physical sickness. If he had a physical sickness, I’d understand.

It’s a mental illness, and sorry I don’t really understand about a guy making 8.5M a year to start grouching about a mental sickness. Everyone deals with stuff like that and unfortunately we don’t get to take off work with full pay and without losing our jobs.
This post gets like... 50 things wrong in just a few sentences. It's actually impressive, congrats.

The body is a unit. The brain is part of that. And money and health are not the same thing either.

And just because you don't get to take off work without losing your job doesn't make it right.

It's time to move away from the neanderthal approach to mental health.

Zib has had some concussions too, and we all know depression can be a long term side effect. You don't know what he's going through.

Come on man. I'm American - and people from other parts of the world paint us as cold, heartless, imbeciles.

And they're 100% right about that... I have no faith in my fellow countrymen.

If Mika needs to sit out games because he’s having panic attacks, that sounds like a textbook case for voiding a contract.
Read that in this guys voice…

To be clear, is it even confirmed he’s dealing with panic attacks?
The Swedish journalist (Bjurman) who apparently reported on it is about as connected to Swedish players for the Rangers as can be. It would be very out of character, and potentially career damaging, for him to report on this if it weren't true.

This is assuming the translation of the article is correct. I don't subscribe to that paper, so I haven't seen it.
