@Ola thoughts on the red/blue turned inside-out? Zibanejad requesting a trade or is Dolan/Drury tired of his shit? ;)
more like Zibanedad

He is interested in his music career more than his hockey career. Should have picked a DJ as a career and hockey as a hobby. Sell high on him
Holy shit what an embarrassing take.

This is almost as cringe as some Bills fans criticizing Josh Allen for going to Mexico with Hailee Steinfeld this summer. Players are allowed to have lives. Mika's put up 371 points over the last 5 season's and his coming off a career high of 91.

You don't achieve that type of production in the NHL without an enormous amount of effort, training and commitment.

Consider the source of the comment. He’s the same one that wants us to sign every shitty player that goes on the waiver wire.

Takes mostly coming from people whose only real commitment on a given game day is that 1st period plate of nachos laying on their chest.

Mika (I do believe) is usually a slow starter, beginning a season. 2 things though. Being a new parent......kind of can have a negative affect. And, he was injured in pre-season.
Not surprised, talk to me when he puts up another 90-105 point season.

Except for last year, Mika usually starts the season unable to skate in a straight line without falling, can't stickhandle, nor can he receive a pass cleanly or hit someone with a pass in stride. So he's actually off to a good start (yay?)

He NEEDS to start shooting from the slot more in all situations, more wrist shots on the PP when guys are in front screening instead of a complete ironclad focus on one timers or one time passes, and just more shooting overall at 5 on 5

Zibanejad is the least of this teams' problems.

The problem with this team is the entire right hand side of the forward lineup.

I actually don’t think Mika has looked too bad. He should of ripped that Kakko pass the other night, but aside from that his attitude hasn’t been that fake mopey “competitor” persona that Kreider still does. He seems happy and has been physical to start this season. Dad strength > Dad bod.

I would still move his contract in a heartbeat if I could, but I think the chemistry is still building between that top line.

He’s an amazing 2C who is put in a position he shouldn’t be in.

Yes. NHL ice is only 0.25 to 0.5 inches thick.
No it isn't. It's is usually 1.25-1.5 thick. A quarter inch of ice would have the paint gone after warmups or the cloth logos coming out of the ice during play.

Most rinks target an inch above paint but pro rinks go thicker bc with two zams running on each cut they are removing more ice than the water they can lay down in-between periods. Drivers intentionally overlap their passes so blades cut areas twice per cut (zam blades actually have an upward flare on the ends when they cut because when you change blades zamboni has a procedure to slightly bend the blade up on the ends to accommodate overlapping passes) but the zam will also suck back up the water (via cut shavings or the wash water pump) that the previous machine dropped on their pass, there's more shave than the water put down during these games

Still active and you feel like he's going to settle in.

And opposed to it being coaching its just simply the player being a notoriously slow starter in this case. Shot will and handles will improve a few more games in. And his line has been excellent and he's been a part of that.

Mika being a 2C is comical. I feel like I'm getting 2010-2018 flashbacks with this "Rangers don't have a #1C nonsense". Except then it was arguably true. Mika had over 90 points and almost 40 goals last year. Some 2C.

I've made this post before but I want to make it again.

Pastrňák lead the league last year with +400 shots. This guy had +110 points, tied for 3rd in the league, +60 goals, 2nd most. The high volume shooters are taking ~300 shots a season.

I like to bring up that 19-20 season for Zibanejad, where he was a top 10 center in the league, a real argument that he put up a top 5 performance that year. Pretty wild numbers here... Zibanejad since joining the Rangers is good for let's just say ~250 shots a year. Plenty fair number. Last year only about half of his shots came at 5v5 though, 123. Half of his shots are coming from the powerplay now. There's a number of star players that have that kinda situation, but many of the top guys are closer to 2/3s of their shots coming 5v5. Back to 19-20... in 57 games he had the same exact shots 5v5 as he did in an entire season last year. 123 shots 5v5 in 57 games, 208 shots in total. A whopping ~300 shot pace in 19-20, far more output than he's ever had. That puts him with the big boys. The pace he scored at would've had him in the 50s at 5v5, +105 total points... compared to his last 2 seasons of ~40 points 5v5.

It's such a shame because we've seen what he's truly capable of. It's the same sort of shit people started getting on Panarin for the last couple years. For 2 guys that have phenomenal shots its outrageous some of the opportunities that they'd pass up. Panarin is back on his shit. Don't look now, another 4 shots tonight.. the guy is on pace for ~300 shots this year. This is the 19-20 Panarin. These stupid little plays where we see Zibanejad continuously pass up prime shooting opportunities for nothing burgers is limiting his abilities. Way too passive. Get this guy shooting the f***ing puck again
