I honestly think this has more to do with whatever injury he got in game 3 than Covid at this point because no matter what covid does to your lungs he still should be able to shoot and thats where he is struggling the most. He might need a new role on the pp until that comes back for him.

He’s been horrible this season, but there’s far more evidence to suggest he’ll bounce back, rather than this being the beginning of the end.

idk he looked like he was getting it together in that game vs Philly, not just the 2 assists on the PP but he had 2 breakaways, a beauty setup that Blackwell missed, and other chances, could have easily had 4 or 5 points. But then he follows it up with 2 stinkers in a row vs Boston. Yeah everyone was bad yesterday, but on Friday Boston rolled over and died and he still was nowhere to be found.

For a while he looked like a guy in a bad slump who couldn't buy a goal. It looked like he was due for a hot streak to balance out the cold start.

Now he actually looks awful and its concerning. Maybe there's some kind of lingering injury and he can take a few games off to rest and clear his head.

Looks like a large part a confidence issue at this point. Imo having so many other important forwards out doesn’t help at all. Getting bread, Chytil and Kakko back will take some pressure off and hopefully let him pile up some points and feel good again.

The Eichel thing is weird. He’s younger and more expensive and also underproducing because his team is struggling. Why do we want to pay up a ton for more of that?

How does this affect Mika’s outlook on his own career and next contract? Is this shit show of a season the ultimate salary cap gift? Can we sign him for a Kreider like deal at this point?
6 points in 19 games, we can get him for Howden $ lol

The ENG against Washington really stung him, looked maybe ribs related totally conjecture though, and that on top of the early season stinger he had too. He really laid out to get that ENG goal against Washington and took a solid shot unprotected. Tough to play with bruised ribs if that’s what it is, and rotational leverage for one timers would be difficult too

The desperation to trade for Eichel makes me wonder how long some people have been Rangers fans for.

There’s a 0% chance any situation in which we clear house for Eichel ends up working in our favor. How many times do the Rangers need to make this mistake for people to recognize this?

The grass is always greener. Somehow Eichel will be this magic pixie dust that turns us into a playoff team. Meanwhile, Buffalo has had some talented teams and still can't put it together?

Lot depends what kind of bounce back its going to be next year. I'm pretty sure he is going to hit that off season with lot of determination, and come back better than this. Still its going to be very serious question with him, even if he bounces back. Mika is going to command big bucks, and if we are giving those to him. He must be legit, and he can't fall off. Its scary man, with those past injuries and inconsistency.

This roster is going to cost a lot in the future, if we are speaking about contending for Stanley. And many of our guys have shown already, they are going to get paid. So there can't be many missed shots with salaries. Trouba seems already like a miss. For Kreider i have lot of confidence he will deliver. But still its going to be tight.

I think there is a difference between getting a guy in the prime of his career vs on the backend. I mean it did work with Messier even after his true prime.

With the salary cap crunch it could reduce his price somewhat.

Let's be honest we aren't going to win with the centers on our current roster. If we can get Eichel without giving up Kakko and Lafreniere you have to consider it if you can make the money work.

Mika, unlikeable...? What you smoking?
I don’t mean as a person exactly but his character when it comes to hockey. He doesn’t seem very dedicated at all, doesn’t seem to have much mental toughness either. Have you watched him on that podcast he went on? He’s talking about how he doesn’t even love hockey that much and wanted to be a soccer player

Maybe Mika just doesn't like the coach or direction the team is going in?

Just had a game where he put up points snd was noticeable while Eichel did less than nothing and people are still whining about Mika and calling to trade the farm for Eichel

Get Eichel at any cost. Cannot rely on this guy to bounce back this is an unbelievable fall from grace
Zibanejad shooting percentage this season: 3.5%
Eichel shooting percentage this season: 3.6%

Both have scored 2 goals. Wow, what an upgrade "at any cost". Sure, Eichel has double the assists, but one could argue Eichel actually has more offensive power around him than Zibanejad has.

Phil Espo would agree and trade likely 10 players for Eichel.

i think the Rangers should let this Covid season play out. A lot of players and teams are having strange years.

He played much better yesterday. He was quick with the puck, was following the play, had much better and more succesfull forecheck and didn't look gased just stepping on the ice. Mika is comming...
