Kudos to AG for keeping the patchwork defense going as long as he did. Unfortunately, the wheels fell off against a mobile QB which was already a known weakness. Shortcomings on defense were always saved by Goff and Co. stepping up and Goff had a stinker of a game.

Gibbs is magical.

I am not as optimistic as I was after leaving the NFC Championship in Santa Clara last year but Lions will be a contender again. Hoping injuries are minimal next year. Lions must have set an injury record this year. Big moment for MC/DC and having to potentially replace AG and Johnson. Sounds like AG is a lock for the Jets or Saints job.

I hope we elevate Kelvin Sheppard and he doesn't leave with Johnson or Glenn.

Everyone is piling on Goff, but the fact is the Lion's receiving corps really isn't that great. Outside of St Brown and LaPorta their receivers are average at best. A position that needs to be addressed in the off-season.

Honestly, when you have what most would consider the Best OL, plus 2 terrific RB, and one of the Best TE plus slot WR, that's a pretty good group on Offense. They'd love more out of Williams, but that 2022 WR class with Wilson, Olave, Dotson, himself, Burks have not played up to their draft status. Could use an upgrade but there are clearly other areas that need bigger upgrades.

Off-season, need to upgrade the Defense and think practically as well. They will have to find guys to replace players they won't be giving another contract to in the next year or so. Like how they had to replace OG Jackson whom they weren't going to sign.

I think nearly the entire team choked. Definitely unforced errors by Goff, but also less protection by the offensive line and horrendous tackling by everybody. It felt like the first game this year where instead of playing their own game, taking what the defense gave them on offense and getting at least the occasional turnover or timely stop on defense, they panicked and got very reactive on both sides of the ball.

just very disappointing with how dominant they were all season. I think this is the most disappointing loss for a detroit pro team since the wings game 7 cup final in 2009

The collapse against SF last year was worse, IMO. The defense was so beat up this year, it was hard for me to see them going all the way. Aside from the Minnesota game, they haven’t been able to stop anything in weeks.

Next season will mark the 23rd at Ford Field. Hard to believe in a few seasons they will eclipse the number of years played at the Silverdome.

especially when Amik Robertson broke his arm at the start of this game as well

imagine having to play the Eagles and the Chiefs or Bills without him for the rest of the Playoffs in addition to all the other injuries that were already there

I'm still sad about the loss. Hard to win when you give up 45 points. According to Statmuse, only 5 times has a team won while giving up 45 points.

Yikes. Other than Dallas, Chicago might have been the last place I'd want to coach. Hope they improve the offensive line so Caleb doesn't continue to take a beating.

Yeah, well it was expected he’d take a HC job this time around. See who Detroit ends up hiring as OC. Some teams, when HC isn’t a play caller a change in OC results in the O not being as effective.

That would have been nuts. I'm happy the Bears actually made a hire that makes sense, but anyone suggesting the Lions should have fired Campbell to keep Johnson were just out to lunch, imo.

Fair point. Lots of front office train wrecks (DAL, JAX, LV, NYJ) amongst the open HC locations. But it'll be interesting to see who ends up with the Saints and how Vrabel does with the Patriots - I'd much rather take either of those spots than Chicago.

Very important for Campbell to find the right OC. Seen other teams who switch OC's (Philly), (NE with Jones and McDaniels, fell apart after Josh went to LV), not look the same since.
