He improved his defensive play a lot last season. One of the rare Habs player in the positive in terms of +/-.

But he has limited skills.

He's the perfect 12-13th forward.

He'd 100% be picked if placed on waivers, as NHL GMs love this kind of dedicated player.
The kind of guy that every NHL locker room will love, he's a glue type guy in terms of team spirit.

I think that if it comes to him being placed on waivers, Hughes will find a way to trade him before.
Because there's a GM somewhere that'll want to make sure to grab him, instead of waiting for his waiver slot and risk him being taken before.

He'd be a perfect guy for a team like the Maple Leafs, a talented team that lack team spirit. Furthermore, he's a local Ontario guy.

A 5th rd pick should do it.

The Canadiens aren't looking to let Michael Pezzeta go for a late round pick, people on a message board are looking to let him go. What's the point of Montreal trading Pezzeta for a late round pick? That may be fair value, but do they really need more late round picks? Besides, what will they do with that late round pick, draft another Michael Pezzeta?
exactly. And hughes doesn't like to lose guys to waivers. There was a rumor last year the flyers would claim him if he was on waivers, so he remained in Mtl for the season. He's fine in his checking role. Was like 9th in the league in hits and will fight when needed. He took some of the load off of Arber before and after he was injured.
I don't see habs moving him for a nothing pick. He's a perfect 13th checking forward making league minimum. I can even see Hughes resigning him - until someone like florian is ready for the habs

Doubt he gets moved.

Does exactly what you want out of a 13th forward, & fits in great with this group. Habs really don't need the late pick he might fetch in a trade, and no one is offering up more than that.

Only way I see him traded is if he requests a trade BC he believes he can be an everyday player elsewhere and KH gives him the opportunity

Was our best 4th liner last year by a lot, which isn’t saying much but we haven’t picked up anyone who replaces what he brings so unless someone surprises out of camp like Wi-Fi Jr or Tuch I’d be in no rush to trade him for a mid-late round pick which we already have too many of.

Interesting thread honestly. He’s a 4th liner. Yet his value fluctuates greatly amongst posters, loving the conversation!

I will take the highest pick you are willing to give for him and sign Matt Martin to play those 30-40 games. I don't think he has a spot even as the extra forward after this season, Tuch or Xhekaj Jr. will steal his spot

Seems like MTL could use some of his physicality and toughness, yet they are willing to let him go for a late round pick?
He's one of the only players where you can visibly see at all times that he just doesn't belong out there lol dude works harder than anyone he's just really not good at hockey

Very limited ability, but a gamer. Can take a regular shift and doesn't need to fight to play his role. A 13th forward that doesn't complain about being a 13th forward.

Given how few players Montreal has that can do that role, I think they'd be intent on keeping him.
Yeah the price is going to be a late pick, why even bother.

He seems like a fearless guy regardless of the position he finds himself in. All I really think of is the time he dropped the gloves with Gudbranson. Went about as well as you'd expect but he tried.

Little Xhekaj or Tuch in the NHL this season?

OK.

Then it is pretty irrelevant to trading Pezzetta now.

His value to the Habs is higher than his trade value until a replacement is NHL ready.
I think you responded without reading my post altogether and now you're backpedaling with something that I also already addressed, good luck out there
