Maybe you don't understand what we all already know.

We already know that the Kings are going to SUCK a few years down the road. We get that. We want titles now. Stanley Cups. Now. Legacy, now.

It's a natural state of affairs that teams go through cycles. Might as well grab the titles when we can. If we can.

Maybe you don't understand that I was referring to why we have Shore in the lineup as the 3C instead of a vet making around $2.5M - $3M a season. Brown's contract is devasting the depth on the third line. Soon the Kings will overpay dramatically for Kopitar for the hope of getting one or two more kicks at the can.

Of course I understand what you think you know. I just don't agree with your opinion.

In my opinion those deals destroy the depth down the middle and on the blue line that made the Kings championship contenders. I'm still not convinced 100% that this team has the depth required to win it all if Kopitar doesn't return to his 2012 form. I hope this isn't the case, because it doesn't look like Kopitar has that kind of game left in him.

The offense is simply not there with Shore. His GF/60 at 5vs5 play is hovering around low 1s. Near 70 games now. Despite the shot suppression and Corsi, he is still way below water on GF/GA 5vs5. This is why I think Corsi is overrated as a star.

I like Shore, but he's just an absolute black hole on offense. Can't have that as your 3C long term.

The wingers assigned to his line aren't exactly setting the world on fire. If Shore is inadequate as a 3rd line C according to you, then who would be a better choice? Stoll?

Goals for is too deceptive to look at in isolation.

Look at his scoring chance generation. It is really good. They just aren't finishing. You can't say they are a black hole of offense if they are generating scoring chances a lot. Plenty of high danger chances also.

Really hope he picks it up. Was very encouraged by his first game, but only in brief flashes after. Has mostly played like Dwight King but without the brains to get to where he needs to go since he doesn't have the speed to compensate.

I wouldn't count on it.

Mersch's biggest flaws are speed and savvy. Speed will have to come in the offseason if he makes more concerted efforts in his training. Savvy is just going to come from experience.
