hopefully sooner rather than later. cant wait to see his game
I totally agree It wouldn't surprize me to see him get some time with kopitar before going back
hopefully sooner rather than later. cant wait to see his game
yeah ok just cause u say something doesn't make it so Clifford provides something King doesn't that's is physical play. King may get a few more points but if u look at the mins played its nothing Clifford couldn't with the same mins linemates and opportunity.
Mersch is going to take Kings spot on the roster its only a matter of time wait and see.
King doesn't get a few more points, he gets way more. His p/60 over the last 4 years is 1.39, while Clifford's is 1.08. King produces like Brown and Richards, Kyle's is more like Nolan and Lewis. There's a pretty big gap there. They are different players, Clifford is never going to produce like that. If he had it in him, he would have already played his way off the 4th line. Kyle is obviously better than Nolan, but he hasn't done much when put with better linemates, while King has.
I appreciate what Kyle brings, but King at 1.95 > Clifford at 1.6.
I doubt Sutter gives him a real true look. Just killing time until King and Lewis come back. Mersch will really have to stand out in his brief minutes.
Wouldn't be surprised if DL goes with 7 dmen.
Clifford, King, and Nolan are cheap and have won two cups with this team. I doubt the organization is looking to move them. Out of the three, if they do get moved, Nolan is the most replaceable imho.
I agree
Dwight King is probably the most underrated winger on the entire roster. Produces in all roles; you don't rid your roster of Dwight King type players, that produce in all roles.
You get rid of players like Nolan/Andy, that produce hardly anything. Although I would keep Clifford for another year, hopefully this latest concussion doesn't effect him greatly.
I agree that DS will make MM earn his minutes. Let's not jump to the assumption that because he's up with the big club, DL can now make some trades. It is his first game, let's give him some time.
Now, if he gets a hat trick in Pittsburgh, all bets are off.
The other thing that I have not seen mentioned yet is that Lombardi likes to make the prospects pay their dues. He also likes to make sure that they have time down in the minors as a dominant player burning their confidence while going through the rigors of being a pro. I think it is very unlikely that he gets sent back down when Clifford or King comes back.
Cycle pucks down low, get bodies to the net, make it tough on the goalie to see the puck. Every cliche in every interview in the last 5 years is this kid's game. Show us what you got.
I went to a game in 1993 in which a player scored a hat trick in his very first game in a Kings uniform (we beat Detroit 10-3 in that game...the Gretzky era, of course).
That player was gone 25 games later, as I recall. But then again, it was a very different time. I don't think he scored another goal for the Kings after that game.
So no, Kemosahbee, a hat trick in your first game as a King player is no guarantee you don't get sent down.
Ha, that was Dominic Lavoie, wasn't it? He had a bomb from the point on the powerplay, but once teams learned to pressure him on the point he'd turn the puck over, and that was all she wrote.
I'm not sure which team you are watching. Andreoff's game is really beginning to come around. He's hardly making any mistakes these days, and Sutter clearly loves him because his ice time is increasing. He's been centering the third line more and more, or haven't you noticed this?
Nolan has always been a valued player in Sutter's lineup. He's also getting more chances at the net than ever before. He's a skilled skater, but I agree he has been more mistake prone this season than in the past. Still, he is making contributions on the fourth line.
Just because these guys are not scoring doesn't mean they don't bring value to the table. I'm really amazed at how many posters still value third and fourth line players by how much they score and don't consider all of the other aspects of the game they bring to the table. Sure the fourth line is going to be trapped out there from time to time on the road against the opponent's top line, but that's the NHL rules. That's what makes the league fun. But to just discount these guys and want to chuck them because they are "not producing" is a very short-sighted view.
One more thing: I knew who it was but wanted to see who would name him first...Don Choralone comes through. Come to think of it, I should made it a trivia question!
Didn't he end up in Ottawa?
The hype train is insane on this board regarding MM's first appearance. Remember he is just a rookie and is likely going to be invisible the first game and playing 5 to 7 minutes. That said, the one thing that will really impress me is if he is able to gain territory in front of the net in a NHL regular season game against a good team. Goal or no goal, that is what I will be watching out for.
