I was at the Braves-Mets game in 1987 at Shea where Dion James hit a routine pop fly to left that hit and killed a bird and ended up a double.

I took out a bird with a golf drive once. Thing is, I wasn't really a golfer and very rarely hit a shot completely square. But I got all of that drive (golfers know the feel) and was watching it scream straight up the fairway when a saw a blur come from right to left maybe 35 yards from the tee box. There was an explosion of feathers and the bird and my ball both dropped straight down. I felt bad about the bird, but tbh I also felt cheated that I never got to see where what maybe would have been the best drive of my life would end up.

I used to play pretty seriously. Have only ever had 2 incidents involving animals in my games.

Most recent one was down in Florida playing with a few family members. I hit my drive about 5 feet from a lake but still easily playable. I get to about 10 yards from the ball walking towards it and a big ass gator pops out of the lake and snags the ball popping back in the lake before I can even register what just happened. Free drop I guess? Went from 2 under to 5 over in 4 holes thinking that I was seconds away from becoming Chubbs Peterson.

Absolutely trash at golf, dont even like it. Boss begged me to play at a home builders tourney small time thing, was really just about beer and golf. Anyway it was captains choice and I was partnered with one other guy the couldn't play and two guys that were pretty solid. Im at least pretending to care and asking about how much club I should take on each shot and about 6 holes they just start ignoring me and the other guy. We come to a par 3 and again I'm asking what club I should use, they give me a half ass answer. So kinda pissed off I just grab the smallest wood and walk up to the tee and for the first time all afternoon ( and the only time ) hit it square, straight, and true. I was so pissed at those ass clowns for not helping me when my ball sailed not only over the hole, and the green but over the tops of the trees behind the green.

I'll bet the clubhouse trained that gator in order to maximize their profits from selling used golf balls!
