Hell, Carolina had another similar situation earlier in the season. Jarvis looked like he 100% re-injured his shoulder. It was even non-contact. He just caught a rut in the ice, fell and used his arm to break his fall. Immediately grabbed it and rushed off the ice. Immediately, the first thought from the broadcast and every Canes fan was “Oh, that’s absolutely the shoulder injury he refused to get surgery about this offseason.” Next shift, he’s back out there, no apparent problems. It’s nuts.

So yeah, I’m surprised you’ve apparently watched a lot of hockey and never seen a player look like they’ve been seriously injured, but it winds up turning out much better than it initially looks.

Bryce isn't remotely bias if you ever actually listen to his talk about the games. Since he joined the broadcast I've never heard him pissed off once before tonight's game. It was completely out of the norm for him.

If I was a Devils fan, I certainly would take issue with the 5 minute call. While the contact does indeed look pretty brutal, I don’t think there’s really any malicious intent on the part of the hitter. Certainly nothing warranting a 5 minute PP.

Bryce Salvador thought he was faking it as well. Same with Haula who went after him later in the game because he thought he faked it too. Keefe said it as well in a nicer way.

3 guys who have been in the NHL a long time think he was faking it and from actually watching the game, which you didn't, I firmly believe he was faking it.

The previous poster brought up Joe Blandisi and that guy was hated in our fanbase for being a diver but he eventually got caught on by the refs and got called for diving. And how is that lucky? That's the exact opposite, lmao. If our players get hurt, it's usually something bad and our fanbase has PTSD beyond belief when a player goes down between the history of Taylor Hall (literally posted it here) and Jack Hughes throughout his career. Not sure why you Canes fans are in hysteria at Necas being called a diver. I would provide more proof of Devils injuries and their legit timelines but apparently they don't matter to the conversation lol

I think it’s that you chose to call Necas a diver because he stayed on the ice after a hit that caused his knee to bend in an L shape in the wrong direction. There are certainly plays where Carolina players go down easily looking for a call. This one? I think he stayed down because it f***ing hurt.

I also think the whole diving thing is a bit overblown. EVERY team has at least a few players that are going to go down easy to draw a call on occasion. It’s just part of the game at this point.

Necas moving out of the way causes the contact on his knee, he wanted to avoid the hit and it caused his knee to be hit instead. Timo never moves his knee to target Necas knee at all.

Bryce went on about it for quite a bit during the review and for a bit after, if I catch a replay later I'll record some of it.

Now add in the fact, there was no original call live and they had to legit watch it frame by frame to call a 5 min major on Meier. If we're doing that to every hockey hit, refs can legitimately call a 5 on any type of injury when we know that's not how penalties should be called.

First off, I just want to assert that I am not a fan of either of these teams.

Secondly, I have zero clue how “my fanbase” would categorically react to such an incident. I’m not looking to have a conversation with the collective opinion of a fanbase. That’s pointless. He clearly wasn't that hurt from the play, if you count how long it takes, he's literally up on 1 knee in 5 seconds and on his feet in 20 seconds. That's certainly not embellishment.

Hell if he laid on the ground like Necas maybe Colton gets a 5 min major right off the bat instead of a 2 min penalty.
