Somewhere on Uranus
Based purely on what is on line and people involved in the actual making of this movie. It was shit show behind the scenes. Several people involved in the movie suggest FFC was smoking lots of "herbal" cigarettes and would change his mind every few minutes and cause massive delays. Actors were complaining about lack of direction for their characters and how they were called to set but did nothing for days on end.

FFC announced this movie right after he did "The Outsiders". in 1983

The fact there were several lawsuits filed during and after production is interesting and when you have so many people going on record about the shoot went is interesting

This sounds crazy. I wonder if it will be a bigger mess than the filming of The Island of Dr. Moreau.

What are these actors and agents of actors thinking?

"Hey Adam Driver, do you want to be in a Francis Ford Coppola movie? It's a passion project for the 84 year old director who hasn't made a good movie since "Bram Stoker's Dracula" in 1992."

Is it really better for their careers to just take the paycheck even if the movie is a total flop? Not my world but it seems like such an obvious bad choice from the outside looking in.

Reading stuff on line? Francis Ford Coppola is going to take another beating to his bank account. Sounds like he mortgaged everything he had to make this movie. His wife of 61 years died earlier in the year and wonder if that caused him to go a bit crazy

I’ve stayed away from reading anything meaningful about it, haven’t watched the trailer. After I watch the film I will likely cast a 10/10 review on IMDb no matter what

Wow didn't even reach lower end of estimates ($5-7M forecast after awful opening day) amid horrendous reviews both critically and from audiences

An outright bomb can be only description here. And its theatrical release is more costly given # of Imax screens it's on

Does Imax have right to pull plug on films early in their theaters if they are bombing? Or do they have to take hit of empty theaters until agreed window closes hoping that distributor pulls movie ASAP to open screens in situation like this

I've been seeing a lot of ads for it. They've been pushing it hard on Twitter.

Even with the bad reviews I'm surprised it only did 4M.

I am not surprised that this movie bombed. Coppola is a legend but he has not had a blockbuster hit in decades.

Both critics and moviegoers having a negative opinion about the movie were the final nails in the coffin.

Shame if this movie sucks/flops. Especially these days you want original movies like this to do well/be good with all the sequel, prequel, reboot, franchise garbage we're being fed non-stop.

Cinema really is at an all time low point.

I think it safe to say his magic is gone. Not saying this Heaven's Gate bad but man if 1/4 of the stories coming out are true.. This will be Francis last movie.
Tetro and both versions of Twixt are not bad

I think this sums the movie up quite accurately...

When I saw it Thursday night the theater I was in was probably about 70% full. Not bad. But I also assumed this is a crowd with an extreme interest in the movie.

An older couple behind me kept sayin "This is the strangest movie I have ever seen." Probably about seven or eight times over the course of the movie. Not mad. More of a quiet bemusement. This added to the experience for me.

So, the movie? It almost feels beyond criticism. I don't think it's good, but I also don't think Coppola or anyone involved particularly cares and there's something I really respect about that. If you know the backstory you know this is something Coppola's wanted to do for a long time. I'm happy he got to. As insane or costly as it may be.

Coppola seems to be particularly prone to this sort of madness. Sometimes it's successful, like Apocalypse Now, and other times it's a disaster, like One From the Heart or this. He's got such a damn the torpedos attitude. I choose to celebrate that rather than dunk on the guy.

I like big swings. Even when they miss. And there's a lot of big swings here from the movie itself to pretty much all of the performances.

I hear this all the time and it's just not true. There's a million original movies released every year and folks just don't go see them. If you're in the LA area, here's a list of movies you've never heard of that you could have seen for free the past week or can see for free this week at Beyond Fest:

Daniela Forever
Sky Peals
The Girl With The Needle
A Desert
The Last Sacrifice
Maldoror
Above The Knee
Zero
Baal
Night Call
Who's Watching
A Rare Grand Alignment
Sayara
Ghost Killer
Shadowland
AJ Goes To The Dog Park
Escape From The 21st Century
Night Silence
A Mother's Embrace

These will all be playing at some point on Shudder or Hulu or Amazon in the near future if not in smaller theatres. The idea that original stuff isn't being made is ridiculous. It might not be playing at the AMC where you can use your Stubs membership, but it's out there. The fact that people don't support GOOD original movies is the problem. Not that they don't support trash original movies.

Of course, low budget indie movies are still being made and probably more than ever because it's easier to make movies these days. And I'm sure there are many good ones I haven't seen yet.

I was more talking about big budget movies. Movies that feel grand. Who's even there making these movies who doesn't rely on an established brand and is still successful? I can only think of Christopher Nolan.

One of those failures, or relatively so, that are more interesting than a lot of other lesser director's successes. Full review on movie page.

My cousin asked me to watch this with him. He is no longer my cousin anymore. LITERALLY the WORST movie I ever saw. Powder held that spot but there is a new champ now.

One From the Heart isn't a disaster. Actually a very interesting film. It didn't make much money, but should this really be a measure of success.
