The Lightning have won every game so far this season against the Tropical Depressions but still find themselves 2 points behind in the standings.

The Tropical Depressions want to break out of a midseason slump where they have won only one game out of the last 10.

Tonight these two mediocre storms collide in a matchup that can be described as both boring and sluggish.

The Lightning lineup:

Killorn-Stamkos-St.Louis
Pouliot-Lecavalier-Purcell
Crombeen-Pyatt-Connolly
Tyrell-Johnson-Panik

Hedman-Salo
Carle-Brewer
Gudas-Aulie

Bishop
Garon

Calling them "medicore storms" is being quite generous.

There is no doubt about the depression aspect of the "Tropical Depressions" though.

5-1 loss.

Skinner pots one tonight. I thought he was attacking a little more like his former self against WAS. At this point I'm not worrying about playoff's as much as seeing the resurgence of the 2nd line. I'd love to see them get back to form.

Clearly I've had too much sugar this morning, so I'm gonna say 3-2 win.

Some people have been irritated by the whole 5-1 loss on these boards. Personally, I'm irritated by the whole "waiting for next season" crap. Are we all going to die while waiting for a good season?

At this point, I'm almost ready to go to vBookie and bet on Tampa Bay to win.

It doesn't take much for this team to give up, and after Rutherford's statement yesterday, true as it may be, they are already planning to get on the golf course early.

4-2 victory. Bergeron figures in another goal, of course the top line as well. And someone else leaves with an injury.

For me it's more that I can't give this team anymore emotional investment. After years of missing the playoffs, it's just easier to give up rather than road raging home from work, and being short with my wife because this team continues to dissapoint.

There some joking in there people, I never have road rage. :naughty:

Love "tropical depression" was hoping you would have given us a nickname.

Should be an interesting game, we will have our very expensive new goalie in net tonight.

How many of the bolt players have not scored yet, on a 10+ game slump or playing their first NHL game?

__ - 3 loss.

I never bet against the Canes, only ever bet on vBookie when I think they will win.

That being said, I will not be placing any bets today.
3-2 loss

Betting against your favourite team creates a win-win situation. If your team wins, you're happy - if your team loses, you win.

Corvo, McBain, Sangs, AND Bergeron in the lineup. How could we lose?

Semin's not skating at the practice but could still be available tonight. Someone said he has been playing with injuries for a while already.

There's no sense in having him sustain long-term injuries to keep carrying this bunch of freeloaders. Let them figure out how to win on their own for a few games.

I'd kind of like to see Skinner take his spot for a night or two, just to see what happens with both him and Jordan.

Oh yay, another blow out loss against tampa coming up. We couldn't even beat them when we were playing well.

It would be interesting to see if the dynamic would change without Semin. I don't think it's a out of the question to consider that maybe it sparks more effort from lines 1 and 2 knowing it's on them to get it done. It's also possible that Skinner, overshadowed a lot by Semin, get's a crack at the first line and rises to the occasion as you say.

It's not like things could get worse.

I do think there's been a bit of 'wow! look at Semin' from our guys. They see him doing what he does and they back off and watch him. This is putting it pretty simplistically, but I think the essence is there. Rather than his confidence and performance inspire the non-1st liners, I think it's paralyzing them.

Clearly Semin is not a team player ;-)

Maybe that's what everyone was talking about in WAS. Instead of being a cancer because of his attitude, it was actually the reverse of that. He's so good and such a team player it begins to drive his teammates to question their self worth and talent. From there it just snowballs into the whole team sucking as a whole. Ovechkin did find his game again this season without him. Trade his ass!
