But Karmanos has always over-valued friendships. He went so far as to hire a corrupt ex-pol and current jailbird to sell software for Compuware. He saw nothing wrong with that so you have to question his ability to look past such a long-standing friendship.

Plus JR calls him Mr. Kamanos all the time which strokes his already outsized ego. Wonder if he calls Jason Mr. Karmanos too? :sarcasm:

But Kwame Kilpatrick was featured on the cover of Time magazine. Yes, so it was for being named "one of the worst mayors in America" but still JR's never been on the cover of a prestigious magazine.

But wouldn't we have to trade Staal (Ewing) first and then win the Cup for this to be valid?

I interpret Ewing theory as to where a team looks to a star athlete (or in this case, the first line) to constantly bail them out rather than thinking "Ok, if we want to win, then I have to be the best Patrick Dwyer/Tim Gleason/Jordan Staal that I can!!".

Reading the actual article, there is nothing like that...I could have sworn I read it somewhere.

Anyhow, we have too many freeloaders, and even if they weren't freeloading, we still would suck. No defense or forward depth.

You know what sucks? Eric Staal and the first line have still been excellent down the stretch. And we're still losing games.

Is our team a victim of Ewing theory? It's looking quite likely.

Well, I guess it depends on your definition of "down the stretch".

That line has looked good (excellent is a little much) since the Toronto game. Too bad by that point, the team had dug themselves into a whole they couldn't get out of.

But obviously, the depth this team was supposed to have completely dried up, and that's caused a lot of lost games.

Question: With Ruu in the line up will his physical play carry over to Jordan and result in him being physical as well? Thoughts?

Ok, let me just go back and rephrase.

"With Ruutu out of the lineup. Jordan was our only willing hitter who's big enough to make it hurt and belongs in a respectable NHL lineup."

Is Semin confirmed in lineup? Forsland said he was "still having some problems" ??? and "50/50 whether he'll play tonight"

Yes by Michael Smith.

Michael Smith ‏@MSmithCanes 4h

#Canes head coach Kirk Muller said Alexander Semin will be in the lineup. Confirming Dan Ellis gets the start. Faulk not quite yet ready.

What happened with Jay Harrison? He's barely scrapping at all this season.

Too hard to play guitar with broken fingers...and no one on this team really worth sticking up for!

I've always held disdain for those who are proponents of tanking, but...

If we lose in regulation tonight, and the Sabres win, we'll be in line for the 4th overall pick.

Sadly, Calgary, Colorado and Florida are ahead of us. I don't see us competing with that level of suckitude.

Still, a 4th won't get us Jones, but based on what I have read, it will get us an decent (and cheap) player this year, as well as an impact player in the future. Which is what we really need.
