Isn't the problem his lateral movement? i.e. not straight shots.

I don't know where people are getting this from. If he couldn't move laterally, he wouldn't be in the NHL, let alone playing hockey at all.

Yes, he had an injury, where he had some of his bone removed from his leg, but he recovered, and he's still very capable of playing NHL caliber hockey.

I don't think people mean he can't move laterally at all, just that he's slower than most NHL goalies or at least starters.
 
How well they are 'seeing' the puck, efficiency in movements, and making saves look easy during the specific drills.

They showed Emery before, taking lots of very fast shots, and not missing a beat on any of them.

They weren't typical warmup shots either, they were picking corners, and he had every single one of them.

He's ready. I hope we are too.

I'm no expert, but I think Bryzgalov is the only goalie I've ever seen not being ready for the first playoff game.
