Thank god for MacTruck, because frankly outside of him and stralman to an extent, I have been utterly disappointed with the rest of our D this year.
spot on

Like zomg bro did you just compare McDonagh to Duncan Keith and Suter?![]()
A defensve defenseman?
Huh?
Anyone who knew anything about him knew he was a 2 way defenseman.
Seriously, he forgot Lidstrom.
For all the **** Sather rightfully earns, locking him up long-term last offseason was brilliant.
If Mac gets to 50 points he's better than keith (no question in my mind). Keith is one of the most overrated players in terms of his defensive abilities. Still has developing to do to get to ryan suter. But he appears to be on his way.
The problem with Del Zotto is it's really tough to find room for him on his normal left side and it seems like management likes John Moore's upside better (probably because of his skating, they seem to freakin' love defensemen who skate really well)

With AV's system and active defense, despite a slow start for Staal I would keep him and let Girardi go.
And I LOVE Girardi.
I still don't want to give up on MDZ.
MDZ's biggest flaw is his consistency issues, which I guess stems from a lack of mental focus/concentration/awareness??? I thought he was terrific the season before the lockout, the one where Staal missed a lot of time and MDZ played with both Stralman and Eminger quite a bit. That was a great season from him.... I have no idea why he has so much trouble replicating that level of play/effort/consistency....
Can someone explain why OEL is unanimously viewed as the far superior player to McDonagh? Even before this season? This season OEL has started producing much better, but before this year he didn't produce that much offensively. +/- is a ****** stat, but the gap between the two for 2 mid-tier teams is enormous. Why is it unanimous that OEL is so much better?

The way Phoenix is playing now, they are not mid tier. Notch below the top. OEL was hyped at the draft time and people see immense ability. Mcdonagh is just as good, if not better already. Before this season, it is the fact really good players on a poor team stand out that much more. Everyone else looks like a scrub next to them of course they look amazing.
Also Mac is finally getting PP time.
Quickly turing into one of my favorite Rangers, he's made some unbeliveable defensive plays the last few games.
I think he's been the best Ranger so far this year.
Rangers need to make decisions on Staal, Girardi and Del Zotto.
Do they see McIlrath replacing Girardi? Skjei replacing MDZ or Staal at some point?
McDonagh will anchor this defense for a decade. They need to build around him.
I just dont see Staal and Girardi lasting here at all.
