I swear this organization is so stupid they'll trade mcdavid before firing Schwartz.

Again he specifically mentioned Florida having a great goalie being one of the key difficulties in the series. He outed the Oilers goaltending without saying in words.

Genius really in the way he answers sometimes. Skilled answer and looking at goaltending disparity without being callous about it.

I'm sure Leon and Connor have talked about the goaltending for years. I think its also why Pickard got much more usage.

Not to mention the amount of times that they say they love playing with Pickard.

In 5 years, the NHL will likely have expanded again by 2 teams, its being forecast. HRR will have thus increased. The point is that the Sal cap appears to be on a significant upward trajectory. If he signs for the full 8 years now, he foregoes the ability to leverage more of those future cap dollars.

Oilers valuation is more about how much he has the city bent over lol all the teams getting more or less same revenue given to them, then they more or less have the same expenses. LMFAO Then the valuation is also impacted by how much the city sucks his cock ie the city gave him 400 million dollars in the form of the arena and some only get 100 million or 20 million lol that is where the valuation comes from, not connor. Lots to think about for McD. Its good for him that he's taking his time. Good for us too because its beneficial for the org to again realize the seriousness of this offseason.

I've can't recall a team win having to run 2 goalies.

How has management kept failing him? They have given him many playoff teams a bunch of elite talent all the money he could want superstar treatment etc. lol They went to a wcf and two cup finals. This year was closer than last year where florida didnt show up for three games then when they took it seriously again won the fourth game they could have won in game 4. He is not an idiot, he can sit down and run some numbers and go "I chose money over winning" lol I do not mean he should play for 1 million or he didnt leave a million on the table each year, but he has to understand the amount he gets paid will impact his quality of team/likelihood of winning and NO team in the NHL will ice the florida you saw this year if barkov is making 16 and tkachuk 14. McDavid's 12.5 has had similar effects only offset by drai's sweetheart deal. No player til barkov won with an 8 figure cap hit.

In light of that, there is no reason for him not to go 8. If he doesnt, it is 100% about money only.

Thinking of Fleury and Murray recently? But Fleury was a cup winner and elite for many years. Wasn’t unreasonable to think he could get it together. But Murray just stole the show and ran with it. We had no Murray in the wings waiting for an opportunity and we had no cup winner goalie with many elite seasons to start with. We started with a bag of meh and ended with a bag of poo.

Which kept their ice time down because they looked so overwhelmed in 85% of their ice time, which puts even more pressure on 2 guys to do everything. And how often did we have to wait for Florida to be up in games and backing off their offensive push before our depth guys could find any kind of opening to look at all competent offensively? It’s not a great situation.

For sure special teams were terrible. Bad depth forwards also have to take some blame for the PK being so terribly inept all year. Overall in the series though knob really had no choice but to run 2 guys into the ground for any hope because the forward depth was so poor. That sets those 2 guys and the team up for failure.

The biggest difference between Oilers and Panthers is Barkov and Rheinhart. You can argue over the McDrai advantage we have or the dman depth in Florida but the big difference is we have no top tier defensive forwards who can also put pucks in the net

The fact that you think the biggest difference between the two teams is our two best forwards vs their two best forwards is hilarious.

Obviously mistakes happen, no player is perfect. But to suggest that that is reason we can’t beat Florida is laughable.

You know what a far, far bigger issue was with our forwards?

The Panthers had 7 forwards that had a point per game or better in the series. The Oilers had 2 (I’ll give you a prize if you can guess which 2).

Our depth scoring completely evaporated. Kane was brutal. Nuge was a ghost. Henrique, Skinner, Arvidsson all a massive waste of $10m. Janmark and Brown both back to the pumpkins they’ve been the vast majority of their time the last 2 seasons.

Both teams got a forward from the Bruins for a 2nd round pick at the deadline. Ours was Frederic (0 points in 6 games), theirs was Marchand (6 goals in 6 games).

And all of that doesn’t even touch on goaltending which is by far the biggest difference between the two teams. Looking at McDrai and Barkov/Reinhart, One duo got an ~.820sv% while they were out there, the other duo got a ~.945.

Yup.

Just look at McDrai's TOI. Always the most out of all forwards on the team and more than other teams too. Coach has no choice but to overplay them and even stack them on the same line, which makes the team into a predictable: 1 scoring line and 3 crap scoring lines.

No wonder in the every final series they lose, if you look at McDrai's stats they start out hot nailing Kings to the cross and even other rounds too. But if you look at the final games in the last losing series, they always flame out like Leafs core 4.

It's different though. Leafs core 4 do lousy in games 5-7 even in round one. But for Oilers, McDrai just seems to gas out being overplayed. Or they become predictable pickings for whichever teams bounces them from the playoffs as everyone knows it all comes down to 2 guys you got to focus on. Made easier when Oilers coach stacks them on the same line. And once an opposing team cuts back on giving Oilers PP's that heavily affects their scoring and winning too.
