Not if your TorontoThat kind of accomplishment elevates a player from generational to GOAT discussions imo.

Until proven otherwise I'll believe he's still playing through the same "nagging injuries" he had all of last season. Except now they're probably worse.Love the win tonight but what is going on with McDavid? He looked awkward as hell turning when Rasmus Andersson scored, tonight he turned awkwardly and got burnt by Sanheim badly, and then on the breakaway he did NOT want to shoot it.
He was looking behind him the whole time like he was going to drop it to someone, was afraid Oilers would have their own Blake Comeau moment for a second there.
He wants to shoot it even less than last year! And he flubbed the breakaway.
2 Assissts though, maybe hes heating up but some of his skating and his shooting are concerns.
Hand(s) obviously bothering him and he hurt it again tonight in that play on the endboards, landed hard on his wrist. He gets hacked so many times some of the artistry and fine motor control with puck probably harder now. Some speed removed too with all the cumulative hacks he's taken over a decade. He's just not the same player as consistently as he used to be. Lacks the speed and stickhandling ability he once had and seems incapable of shooting the puck at all. Who knows what's up but it doesn't seem like something that's going to get better any time soon.
If so the question is why isn't he healthy? Did he try and avoid surgery like he did with his knee except this time it didn't go as well?Until proven otherwise I'll believe he's still playing through the same "nagging injuries" he had all of last season. Except now they're probably worse.
I have to agree with this and maybe his career is just on the downswing.Until proven otherwise I'll believe he's still playing through the same "nagging injuries" he had all of last season. Except now they're probably worse.
Puts up 100 assists and 42 pts in the playoffs last year.I have to agree with this and maybe his career is just on the downswing.
This is a crazy long shot theory, but It almost looks like he has MS or the start of an auto immune disease or some shit

This x 1000. He might have anxiety or something. It seems like pressure really eats him up inside. What drives him also hinders him. I also agree that he likely cut own on his training this summer and he typically gets better as the season goes along when his stick handling gets dialed in. Wit all of this said I do worry that he may still have a lingering injury or 2. I was expecting him to come out shooting the puck a lot more and it's concerning that he's not.Maybe just maybe the dude only skated like 1/2 to 1/3 of his normal off season training cycle.
He looks like someone who didn't skate much in the summer at all.
Season went very late into late June then he had a massive wedding and I would assume a honeymoon that probably basically took up all of July, and then he's said he didn't want to over train and only started skating in August, which for him is not anywhere close to his normal off-season training.
He's also a guy who I think puts too much pressure on himself and when he gets uptight, his play suffers a bit. I mean this has always been the case with him when he first came here he was kinda shit in his first 3 games because there was a ton of pressure on him to score his first goal and all that. It wasn't until that about his 4th game which was a HNIC Saturday night game against Calgary where he had like a 3 point night that he relaxed and started to show how he could dominate a game, until that point Jack Eichel was outplaying him as a rookie. When you're pressing a bit too hard it can throw your entire game off.
Even when he's playing like shit by his standards he's still a PPG player, lol.

Honestly they should sell high. He'll be fine.He hasn't been right for 2 years. But other than this place, nobody will mention it basically.
He's on pace for 58 points this year. And has lost skill and speed.
