Me watching McDavid put up 4 points tonight:

Point #153 gives him sole possession of the 15th most points in a season.

The only players ahead of him are Gretzky, Lemieux, and Yzerman.

That assist was his 850th career point in just his 8th season, despite missing 37 games in his rookie season and an additional 37 games related to COVID scheduling.

If he collects 2 more points tonight to tie Yzerman with 155, he’ll move past Bossy into 3rd place for career PPG.

I really wanted him to hit 70 goals and 160 pts really bad. 150+ pts is still insane, but he really cooled down in the last 10 games, only 4 goals and 11 assists. Playing with a plug like Yamamoto cost him a good 10 pts.

How good is this player when cooling down means he’s scoring at 1.5 PPG clip and getting a point in every game?

I honestly think he can drop 70 goals and 160 points next season.

Even if he doesn’t, it’s mind boggling that he’s probably going to hit his 700th, 800th, 900th, and 1000th point in the span of just two seasons.

He’s been playing with RNH and Hyman

Seriously disappointing his linemates couldn’t convert one of the plethora of prime scoring chances he gave them.

That 65 goal and 155 point mark I was really hoping he'd hit but nonetheless an all-time full season for the ages. Doesn't have the most points other than Gretzky and Lemieux but 64 goals and 153 today >> 65 goals and 155 in 1989.
He turned it down about 4 gears as soon as he hit 60 goals.

I love McD, but that’s why Gretzky is the GOAT. Guy never turned it down.

Since the Original Six era, the 5th player to lead the league in both goals and assists. Others who did it are Howe, Esposito, Gretzky and Lemieux, and obviously Espo was playing with Orr.

A great accomplishment.

The "150 pts" thing is nice but ultimately trivia given the fluctuations in league scoring. But leading in both categories is rare.

His per 82 scoring pace by division

Metro

Too bad he didn't more games against those easy Eastern Conference teams.
Safe to say he probably hits 160 in the East.

No. Playing with shit players has been established in the karlsson thread as something very beneficial. If anything he needs more of that.

The King. There is no comparison. Time will tell if Bedard can come within the same area code. Other than that. The world is his. He does as he pleases.

Connor McDavid went pointless in only seven games this season. He finishes 2022-23 tied for third on the all-time list of most games in a single season with at least one point.

1) 77 - Wayne Gretzky, 1985-86
2) 76 - Gretzky, 82-83
3t) 75 - Gretzky, 84-85
3t) 75 - McDavid, 22-23
It's 2023. An NHL player just put up points in 75 games. Just think about how ridiculous that is. It's equaling prime Gretzky. The Great One.

What an amazing regular season. Hopefully he has an outstanding playoffs and comes back with an even better season next season.
