Post-Game Talk: McDavid hated that goal

The funny thing is thatyit doesn't even look like it to me. He just looks so ordinary. That's how talented he is. I haven't been following his production at all this year

And his flopping skills could help us in the playoffs
His flopping skills would end up with us shorthanded

He took a dumb penalty too and frankly did nothing out there. This guy is literally nothing. We already have our Connor Brown. Don't need the swedish version that doesn't have ANY talent.
He did take an undisciplined stick infraction at a real bad time but I wouldn’t say he did nothing, he was winning alot of puck battles and his line held its own against the oilers top lines quite a bit. 3 hits and a block in 14 minutes of work.

21 pts in 59 games averaging 13 a night in stl. That would put him 9th in scoring on Oilers, ahead of McLeod. Pretty decent for a 4th liner with no talent apparently.

He’s big, physical can pk, play all 3 fwd positions and chips in with modest offense. I’d rather him then Dowd.

He's a big loaf of nothing. The kind of player you can pick up on waivers. 50 Career goals in a dozen seasons. Heart be still...

CalgaryPuck posters have no self awareness.

complaining about the Oilers playing a team on a b2b.

Did they forget that LA and the Oilers both played the night before playing the flames?

why does it sound like someone is just ripping ass during the latter half of Hyman's presser?
Sorry, that was me.

I can't eat these large red velvet blizzards like I used to be able to.

Draisaitl was ass this game. On a line with McDavid and still couldn’t piss a drop. I have no idea what happened to his shot this year.
Tough roll tonight. Especially with a dumb penalty early that converted into a helpful spark for the road team. Draisaitl's still shooting at 19% but his finishing is based on quick release that catches goaltenders moving. With McDavid defaulting to pass first, might be harder to get more open looks at his 'regular office.' I like to see the team moving Draisaitl around to get different shot looks. His goal split is heavily weighted this year as a McWinger PP finisher 50%. Surprised a bit his EV goals are somewhat down even with both coaches this year rolling him as McDavid's winger.

This team needs to get Draisaitl more shots and ideally the big man gets more selfish when running at 2C. Still awesome point totals among the league's elite so small things to quibble about eh!

He’s a fourth line player and he was part of a pretty key line during the blues cup run.

The type of guy you want in your bottom 6 come playoff time, size and decent skating, responsible hard working game, battles hard and wears guys down.

750k cap hit, he’s a nice 4th line pick up that would make the bottom 6 a little harder to play against.

Skinner made some huge stops in the 3rd, and was unbelievable in OT. He has a 0.946 SV% in his last two games, and did a great job limiting the opposition to just 2 goals against in each of them. Maybe this is the start of another long run of games in not giving up more than 2 goals. Month of January part 2, in March? Sign me up for some of that, please.

He did setup McD 3X in the game. 2 of them set McD home free.

Had some good ownzone breaks ups as well. Tonight it was McD and Hyman on the break and Leon hanging back. The way Hyman has been flying not a bad call. Drai was all over in LA game. probably still feeling that one.

So many saying huge game by Skinner?

I’m sorry but he did exactly what he should have done this game. He finished right at the expected goals.

Goaltenders make saves, most make multiple every night, I know that’s foreign for us oiler fans watching Skinner but it’s what goalies do.

That is not setting the bar high saving what you should.

He seems to be playing way more passive this year. I wonder if he’s lost confidence in his shot because he passes off good shooting opportunities and when he does shoot, it’s into the goalie rather than picking a corner like he used to. McDavids shooting is similarly off but he’s still creating like crazy.

Fair enough.

I think you're overselling him and maybe with the bolded.

Normally I notice players like this and watched that whole playoffs and he just wasn't jumping out at me. I guess I wasn't keying on him.

To me guys like Bjugstad and Kostin got more done.

For big 4th line players I tend to like hard hitters as well. Players with more identity. He has 70 hits but not exactly board rattling.
