Post-Game Talk: McDavid hated that goal

Buchnevich would be a huge add. He’s a gamer.

Sundqvist is another guy I’ve mentioned repeatedly who was very involved tonight. Played quite a few shifts against our top line, drew a penalty against them at the end of a period. He’s big and physical, would make a solid 4th line addition for cheap.
He took a dumb penalty too and frankly did nothing out there. This guy is literally nothing. We already have our Connor Brown. Don't need the swedish version that doesn't have ANY talent.

Kane is concerning. He might be discouraged from that laceration. He's not engaged as he once was and doesn't fight anymore.
I’ve said on here many times I would move him- and then I get roasted. Age, play, and the drama that follows him with his ex (it would wear down the toughest of humans), and its prime time to move him. I’m sure Chicago would love him. I’m sure he’d waive to go to Chicago as well.

It’s not that I hate Skinner, I just don’t have the belief he’s “the guy” yet. They can’t be going down 1, 2, 3-0 or 4-1 in the playoffs and expect them to come back every game. The team in front of him can maybe start the game on time too but I just feel a lot of other goalies would have made saves on both Blues goals.

That said…he played very well in the late stages and secured them a point. Then made a few more big saves in OT and they got the second point.
Coming from behind for wins is not sustainable either. I didn't know we were the second best team in that category.

Seems like we are always chasing half of a game

Really need to tighten up
I don't know if we were just plying better against bad teams or they just abandoned it all

This just looks like Woody hockey now

People have been speculating about Connor maybe having something wrong with wrist. Seems as if the goal tonight even backs that up, Kind of didn't get mustard on it and they the offspeed fools Binnington who just gets a piece of it and the puck is a spinning top whirling into the corner. Like slow motion without slow motion. heh. Nice goal to see if you're behind the net. You know its a goal before it goes in. lol. Waiting waiting goal!!!!
You could see McDavid grimace while the team was celebrating his goal. There's something going on there.

McStack duo Hyman and McDavid drive the bus to victory. Skinner .941 wins the goaltending battle behind a highly sloppy team in front of him. Incredible to see so many horrible turnovers into odd man danger opportunities. Nugent Hopkins stellar tonight at 2C in a lot of important areas led by an exceptional backtrack. 61% face-off, an apple, and 5 takeaways on 0 giveaways.
Nuge had a really good night defensively, and I think that's the key to him being successful at center. Focus on the defense, faceoffs and not making any giveaways. I think that's how he can help this team the most, along with his strong play on the PP.

Kane is just invisible again. Guy doesn't score for a month, then he gets a hat trick, and then he's back to doing nothing again. Blues were picking pucks from him all night. Kane was like a cooler on that line. Hopefully he's saving it for playoffs as this is not a good performance. He's just there.
Y with him it's getting to a point that he scares me. He was losing so many puck battles and he isn't that fast either

I swear Connor Brown has spread his bad puck handling skills to him

McDavid is on fire:

16 points in first 16 games.
78 points in last 39 games.

Averaging 2 points a game in his last 39 games.
The funny thing is thatyit doesn't even look like it to me. He just looks so ordinary. That's how talented he is. I haven't been following his production at all this year

And his flopping skills could help us in the playoffs

Tonight the Blues were conspiring to get Hyman a hat trick. Everybody except Binnington. jmo but its probably a bad idea with a 2-1 road lead to give a 2-on-nothing breakaway to McD and Hyman.

Binnington has to be swearing at his own club some of the time. That was an instant GA. How do you stop it?

As it was that braindead play by STL was the tying goal which lasted till OT.

Blues look like coach killers to me.

If it's not McDavid/Hyman/Drai/Bouch these days not a lot is happening. At some point it has to be a concern.

What I liked about the 16 streak was that top to bottom we were getting contributions.

This seems more like the Oilers of the last couple of seasons.
The coach also abandoned the lines that were contributing everywhere

Maybe you should go first? WTF are you even talking about?
His play tonight? It was Braindead worthy. Did you miss the game?

Oilers with .900+ goaltending are 27-2
Let's hope we get that in the playoffs and we should be dandy lol

Hopefully if him and Draisaitl are banged up, we actually give them some time off before the playoffs. We are likely finishing second or third anyway. If McDavid can’t shoot the puck, we are in a bad spot.

He's a perfectionist;) No style points in that one. I'm jk. I have to say that or jackals will haunt me.

Would be interesting if people attending games could weigh in. Does McD ahve any zip on shots in warmup or can he not shoot at present?

Just a smart two way player when every coach eventually default to the Stack Line. A natural distributor who can find open players for good looks and is a guy who doesn't need the puck on his stick. If anything I think he's too safe which nicks his offence. Love this team's centre winger versatility and Nugent Hopkins is a guy who can play with anyone ... which is a significant asset.

If he can do that and the other two can contribute, we're golden.

Our worst players outplayed their best players.
I mean our worst players put up those numbers because they played against St.Louis's worst players. I imagine if Janmark-Brown-Ryan had played head to head against Buchnevich, Thomas, etc that the numbers would look quite different.

Also notable that janmark was so much lower than his linemates. Matches both the eye test and the general consensus that he is the obvious weak link in the top 6 (not his fault).
