Since we've had McDavid, the league has made the choice not to call it by the book when he gets infracted at least 3 times a game. That's his special treatment, but in a way that benefits his opponents.
So yes, when he does something suspendable (no one is debating that), that's the time some leeway should occur. You can't throw the book at him and ask him to be the only one to carry it. It's everyone else playing against him gets the special treatment and different rules. It's special treatment for Garland getting to steal his team 2 points because suddenly holding isn't holding when it's on McDavid in the final minute of a 1 goal game.
Call the effing rulebook. Or McDavid is entitled to protect himself.
