As elite as McDavid is there would be nothing left on the Leafs after that trade to make it worth it. It would be Matthews, McDavid, Nylander and we are a 3 person team and no depth. What’s exciting about McKenna is he could be a somewhat useful piece next year but also a rebuilding piece.

There's also no point in trading both of them, but if you were to do that and to say "we're keeping Willy long term, Cowan will be good, Klobar can be good, we'll sign Marchment and McMann on the LW," I'd just take the best offers for them with either roster players, NHL ready prospects or sick picks or some combo.

If I'm Edmonton, I do this and ship em both out for best package (more offense is pointless in Edmonton) and inject a massive dose of youth into the team. I.e McKenna for Nemec+Silayev+12th and Knies for Fowler, Zharovsky, Kapanen
