No chance Edmonton says no to this, but I also don't think Toronto would pull the trigger without knowing whether McDavid would sign in a year. It would be absolute malpractice to make this trade only for McDavid to say "I want to go somewhere with a better chance to win" next off-season.

If Mckenna was as hyped as Bedard then yeah that would be fair value for the Oilers if they wanted to retool.

Now Mcdavid has 2 yesrs which does deflate his value a bit as there is risk of him not signing. If he wants to go to a specific team a team may say well wait if price is so high and get him down the line.

For this deal, the leafs would pull the trigger as they arent in the wait now stage but rather win now right away stage.

Leafs have Woll, Stolarz, Hildeby and Aky who's likely wins playoff mvp in the AHL. Last thing the Leafs need is a goalie. Defense is a completely different can of worms.
