Pretty good trade for the Canucks

They play Edmonton again in 2 games. McDavid is likely suspended that game. Usually the argument against suspensions is it doesn't help the team that was affected by the act, but this is one of the rare cases where it would.

Likely both Myers and McDavid suspended for the rematch.

A lot of weird opinions in here.

Garland was told to interfere with McDavid and that's what he did. McDavid fell on him and then Garland locked his legs trying to stop McDavid getting up like it was MMA and the two of them rolled around for a bit. The referees didn't call it and so it got out of hand and McDavid retaliated.

In terms of importance - you want your skilled players to make plays to bring in money. Who the f*** cares what happens to Garland? If the league suspends McDavid the message they're sending is you get one of your expendable morons to go out there and maul the other team's top player to prevent them from tying the game.

maybe you were watching some special feed.. they didn't really show what was happening with those 2.. maybe both were holding each other
You could see it. You can still see it if you rewind Bouchard held Pettersson behind the net from 1:24-1:19 and they let it go.

I'm not sure there's really a comparable cross check when the person getting cross checked is a tiny human being like Garland. There should be a suspension any time someone cross checks another in the face, but there isn't. I don't see it happening here either.
Your point would land if McD accidentally missed his target. He looked right at Garland and deliberately cross checked him in the head in frustration. Add that the Major isn’t even a real punishment cuz it happened at the end of the game. I expect he’ll get one or two

Both players were clearly interfering with each other. Refs chose to ignore it and let the waning seconds play out. Complete bitch move to cross-check a dude in the head due to frustration. No defending McDavid on this one. Someone like Marchand does that and this board would explode with calls for him to be suspended for 10+ games.
Lol at McDavid needing to interfere with Garland instead of scoring a goal with 10 seconds left.

Nice narrative... Garland could've been given 3 different penalties there.
McDavid crosscheck was heat of moment after being held down.
Myers crosscheck was cold blooded intent to injure.

No I think the message they're sending out is you can't retaliate with a crosscheck to the face... but maybe that's just me.

If you say so. I guess 5 second holds are allowed in hockey then.

I can't imagine these lead to multiple game suspensions. $5000 fine, or maybe one game each. I would be shocked if it was more than that.

Nurse is going to do something stupid, not that it would surprise anyone

Everyone on the HNIC panel is saying it's at least 2 - similar to what Matthews got. Soucy got 1 game last year in the playoffs but playoffs are weighed at 2x regular season - so that was also basically 2.
