Generational talent, but terrible attitude and a bad temper. He has those hissy fits and is used to getting away with it. He is lucky it was only 3 games. Could have been more easily.

The elbow alone the other game was a suspension.
It works for Kucherov (slightly lesser tier perhaps) but the modern NHL enables this. Nothing truly horrifying from McDavid *yet.

come on Connor....swing at his head next time
only 5k

That Tom Wilson and Trouba has gotten away with murder before several times does not mean it was wrong to suspend McDavid. Only that it was wrong to not punish Wilson and Trouba! McDavid also has been allowed to get away with at least 3 clear cut suspendable acts before, so he is not the right person to bring up either!

...he doesn't get paid to crosscheck other players in the head, either...and that costs him games, those games that people come to watch him score...so...
So he gets paid so people can watch him get tackled? He deserved a suspension but staying with the Soucy or Matthews suspensions, NHL has proven their inconsistencies and biases

Almost every DOPS video that gets put up on the NHL's website includes a note about prior history.
Right and Meyers history is twice as bad

the point being is they're not consistent...a player trying to hit a homer with another guys head? just a fine
crosscheck to the face? 3 games for Connor, only 2 for Matthews

Totally agree. And as you can see from the text under my profile pic I am not a fan of DOPS. The baseball swing in the head should have been 10+games and so should Wilson pounding on a NYR players head facing the ice while another Cap held down his feet so he was unable to move or defend himself - that was assault and not a hockey play by any means.

But the DOPS suspending people for dangerous plays is actually an improvement, even if they did let other worse acts in the past let go without suspension!

Protect himself from Garlsnd? Garland was not doing anything other than getting under McDavid’s skin. He wasn’t hacking and whacking him. McDavid should have fought Garland. Cross checking him in the back of the head was (imo) a selfish move. Fight the guy. He’s half your size!

Over simplifying the situation there. POS Garland was interfering with him by acting like a child hugging a teddy bear. He even said he did it intentionally to keep him out of the play for the seconds of the game. It was a cheap move and it showed the NHL ref being a joke for not giving either a roughing call or interference call to Garland. It was cheap play

Surprised he got 3, figured they'd either give him 1 or a fine. You can say they are trying to send a message, but we all know they just spin a wheel and then use the magic 8 ball to hand out suspensions. There's absolutely no consistency, someone can swing a stick and hit someone in the head and it could be anything between a max fine and 5 games.

McJesus should make it clear to the NHL, behind closed doors, that the best player in their sport isn’t going to take this shit anymore and is going to crosscheck guys in the face if they want to f*** with him without the referee stepping in.

If the league is fine with fans paying $250 a game to watch him eat nachos in the press box, that’s their choice. Good luck growing the game.

The bolded shows that you have an understanding of the how and why, but to say that prior history isn't factored in is foolhardy.

I would've liked to see something between 5-10 games each but this is still good.

McDavid especially needs to control himself. He's the best player in the world and young kids look up to him, he's not just a hockey player he's a role model - probably the most important one right now - who needs to set a good example for the youth to follow. With great power comes great responsibility, sorry, I know it's hard, but he needs to be held to a higher standard.

P.S. I love how passionate these two teams get when they face each other, what a great rivalry. Emotional hockey is the best to watch.

...since Garland is sooo small, I wonder if McJesus was worried about accidentally being charged with Child Abuse??...maybe that's why he didn't just drop the mitts and thump him...
The way garland manhandled and dumped him against his will my money's on Garland in any fair fight
There's a reason McDavid used his stick. He can't fight.
