The only credit I’m giving the Habs is that their GM built a better team then our train wreck of a GM and our even more useless President

We need the Habs to get smoked in the 3rd round. If the make it all the way, it will give our pea brain Pres and GM idea that this team is good enough and just needs a couple of more tweaks.

With the way Vegas and Colorado are playing, I can't see the Habs being able to get past either of them.

Of course the Habs deserve credit for what they’re doing but it doesn’t let Toronto off the hook for failing to knock them out in a number of situations.
1) Third period of Game 1 on the PP. (Not an elimination moment but coming out emotionally dead and getting scored on SH).
2) First 10 minutes of Game 5.
3) Game 5 OT.
4) Game 6 3rd period debacle in the first 10 minutes.
5) Game 6 OT choke job.
6) Game 7 2nd and 3rd period.

f*** no. 3-1 and the leafs didn't show up. The leafs lost.. Simple as that. Garbage performance by them. If you can't beat the habs in the playoffs you might as well rebuiold/re-tool because you certainly aren't beating the avs/bolts/canes/knights/bruins etc.

Whatever happens will just prove the vast superiority of the Leafs over the Habs
Schiffele is out, PLD is garbage, and the Jets D is ass. Jets are exactly who we thought they were.

The Habs have the best goalie on the planet, 4 big horses on the back end and can roll 4 lines. They are built for the playoffs and deserve a ton of credit. 6 straight playoff wins. Last time they had a streak this long they won the cup.

If the Leafs played with the intensity that Vegas plays every shift, they'd be near unbeatable.
That has to be mainly on the coach, as many of the Vegas players didnt work as hard as they do now on the teams they came from.
but, if the players dont put in the effort, either the coach sucks, or the players havent got any true heart/desire to win.
forget the disappointed facial expressions, leave everything you have on the ice, every shift and then you'll never regret the way you played.

No one can argue that they’re more talented than we. Asking who is the better team is not exactly the same question. We’ve got a lot of skilled players, but we’re a terrible team, and seemingly getting worse every post season.
Cut this excuse crap out too.
Leafs top guns have been shutdown by four different teams over five years now. Different teams, faces, goalies and the result is the same - our stars don't get it done when it counts.
If you walk in a room and it smells like crap, change rooms. If every room you walk into smells like crap, check the bottom of your shoes

This seems like a good summary for the Leafs as well.
Just change the first 2 names to Tavares and Marner and D to mean depth.
They are exactly what I thought.

There is no credit to be given to Montreal. Toronto simply beat themselves. Montreal has no business being where they are. It also doesnt hurt that Montreal didnt have to face arguably both Toronto and Montreal's best two-way players at the center position in JT and Schieffle.
If JT was present in the Montreal series the Leafs win that series easily. If Schieffle is in the lineup the past 3 games there is not doubt Montreal would be up by a 3-0 margin.
Sorry as a Leaf fan I cannot and will not ever give credit to a Montreal team that plays the trap system and relies heavily on their lone star Price. Its how teams like New Jersey in the past won cups. Only thing is NJ had a much better balanced team.

Yes I am giving them credit. We can make any excuses we want for the group of losers who represent the Maple Leafs but the reality is Montreal is going to the 3rd round. You know the same round that our esteemed Gilmour and Sundin era Leafs only managed to make it to.
We can keep saying Montreal got lucky but the Leafs haven't made it past round one since 2014. You'd think we could have got lucky once or twice in that time and made it out of Round 1? Nope instead we are throwing out hypotheticals while the rest of the NHL world laughs at us.
Maybe next year will show some humility and not engage in every stupid debate involving the Leafs. We need to stop defending these guys until they give something back to the fanbase.
These guys don't get the benefit of the doubt anymore. Screw analytics. Screw Point leaders. Screw Rocket Richard races. Screw anything that remotely entails regular season bragging rights. These guys are judged only by playoff performances from here on out.

Yes give them credit but even without Tavares and Muzzin (and Andersen to an extent), the Leafs should have still beat them. Some players didn't show up, the coach didn't coach well in the playoffs again and well the rest is now history.
They do deserve a lot of credit for playing they way they did, defensively. We were pretty much neutralized in the last 3 games. Even the goals that came, came off deflections and were pretty much lucky bounces. Price didn't struggle for any of those!

We lost because the guys we cheer for either suck or lack intensity. Possibly both. Either way Montreal wasn't some insurmountable hurdle the Leafs had to leap over. This should really put into perspective just how pathetic this Leafs team is. Montreal is going to the 3rd Round. For Leafs fans that might as well be a Magical Fairy Land.
