I figure if Bob gets a shutout he will end up with Russian player of the game, but Kuznetsov deserves it. He's been amazing.

For Switzerland, that's now eight straight scoreless periods this month. They didn't score against Germany and Canada in earlier May exhibitions and have yet to score in the two today.

Makes that 9 with the third period against the Czech Republic. And don't get me started with the three goals in four games at the Olympics...

Russia needs to stop having hissy fits... Whenever they think there should be a call, they end up in scramble mode and the Swiss get scoring chances.

Really a game to forget for us.

Bobrovski has been great, our forwards not so much. It's also unusual for Genoni to give up weak goals. He may not be the guy who constantly comes up with the big saves, but he's usually one of the most reliable goalies we have.

I didn't expect much from this team, considering how many players declined the invitation. But that's disappointing.

A game to forget ... as a matter of fact ! :shakehead ... that is one big disapointment ... .

let's see what tomorow will bring to gain perspective !

Sometimes it is good to loose the first game ... it conditions you to eat lions.
Could be the trigger.

And let's see how Russia will behave in the coming games !

Good win on a special day! Moving on - in the end it's just a win in a group stage!

They can't seem to buy a goal ever since the start of the Olympics.

Sure hope 2013 wasn't a one-off.

He fell into the boards behind the Swiss goal, no foul, I think he fell alone (altough a Swiss player was there).

The problem isn't really that they can't keep up with their opponents. The SOG weren't THAT lopsided (27:31), they generated some high quality chances and that's with a B team (19 (!) players declined to play at this tournament) + a few NHL players. You shouldn't expect much from Switzerland this year, but it's really not an indicator for the state of hockey here.

Could someone that saw the game explain the Baertschi injury? All I know is that he was sent to the hospital with an "upper body injury" and the coach said it doesn't look good.

No signs of an injury during the game, he just didn't show up in the third period. I didn't notice any scene during the game where he could have been injured.
