If Kemppainen can keep playing like this, he'll have a long NHL career, while I got my doubts about Donskoi's NHL dreams. He'll be a solid KHL player IMO. Long time Jokerit player in the future I guess.

Yes Kemppainen managed to score one to empty net again :handclap:

If Jussi Jokinen and Tuomo Ruutu can play in NHL Donskoi is going to be a freaking superstar. He has just been unlucky. He is usually good finisher. Plus, the best shootout player in the world

Ruutu is not what he used to be. At this point he shouldn't even play in the NHL.

When he was a decent 2nd line winger he was faster, stronger and still had some of that offensive touch left. And he had that hitting game as well.

When JJ is at his best he can finish well, pass well and play a fairly good 2-way game. At those times he can be a decent 2nd liner.

He's one of those players who keep getting contracts based on his good years. Right now he's not a very good NHL'er. What keeps him in the NHL is the ability of playing better with better players. So if he was traded to a contender team (where he should be a 3rd liner based on this year) he can regain his confidence on the 2nd line and keep rolling. He's one of those rare players who don't look like he should be in the NHL but still manages to make a career for himself.

Anyways, if Donskoi was already NHL caliber he should outplay Jokinen by a very big margin.

Donskoi has been a bit disappointment for me. He's clearly the weakest link of that line. He's just not making right decisions quick enough. He's holding on puck a way too long for my taste. Don't get me wrong, he's a great hockey player but not at the level of Barkov and Jokinen.

Maybe it's something like the line Pärssinen-Hentunen-Kapanen had a decade ago. They were all descent players individually but together they were awesome. JJJ-line was awesome at FEL and Kemppainen has been it in the WC also but Donskoi just hasn't been that good. It seems like he doesn't know where Barkov&Jokinen are on the ice. In the other hand it seems that Barkov has eyes on his back also. If Donskoi has even some sniper qualities he would have made 3-4 goals already.

Lol, do you even watch the games. Donskoi is light years better than Jokinen already. Jokinen is the weakest link ainec. Watch him make blind pass to opponent ten times a game. Points will come for JD, it is just a matter of time

Seems like 'light years' isn't much to you. It's alright to be a Donskoi fan but i'd suggest calming down a bit :)

Joonas Kempainen

Haven't had a chance to see Finland play yet with writing assignments. Would love to get any impressions of him thus far. He was a player who stood out to me during Pohjola tournament when I was living there but never received much acclaim as a junior.

It's good to see him in the national team.
