Looking back at the Olympics, 11 players from the Olympics roster are present on Slovakia's WC roster, however neither Michel Miklik nor Tomas Surovy are expected to play today, while Jan Laco will start today and didn't see any action against Slovenia at the Olympics. That means that the following eight players will play for Slovakia in both games: Ivan Baranka, Milan Jurcina, Andrej Meszaros, Tomas Jurco, Tomas Tatar, Richard Panik,Tomas Kopecky and Milan Bartovic. Asides for the absence of Rodman there only seem to be minor changes between Slovenia's OG and WC roster.

Slovenia also beat Slovakia 3:2 at a tourney in Vienna this February. However while the Slovenian team included several players that are on the WC roster including for example Ticar, it was still pretty far from Slovenia's top team. On the other side there are no Slovaks from this game on the WC roster as Slovakia played with basically a B selection of players born in 1989 and later in this tourney (10+ players of this age group were at a different tourney in Slovakia and of course several were in the NHL/AHL as well). So this game bears even less relevance than the Olympics game for today.

Hate to say it, and nothing against the Slovenians but they shouldn't have beat us last time and they shouldn't beat us this time either.

It all depends if the slovaks play today and if they decide to show up, the past doesn't really madder.

Well, we shouldnt've played like a 1st division team.

The only prediction I dare to make about this game is that the Slovak internet will be full of comments rearding the shirt Lintner's wearing tonight just as it is about his socks.

At this point I'm sure he's doing it on purpose, trying to go for some Don Cherry-like TV persona.

He's trying to give off more of a serious vibe (probably also due to the federation elections) with the way he speaks instead of his previous way that had you thinking wtf he was smoking, so he has to make up for it somehow.

Any Swedes watching the game on TV12? Is the commentator just a bit drunk or what? Or is the sound just a bit off? Took him like 2 seconds to realize that Slovenia scored.

It's not only about losing, this looks like a worse game than Hungary-Poland in Division I to me.

This is kinda true.. Slovenia is playing old school trap. You can't dangle trough that trap boys, what you need is dump it, grind it, hustle it, work as a squad..

I hope seeing that energy from Slovakia in the next perioid.

It doesnt.

It's slow, Slovenia plays good offensively, but whenever the Slovak players somehow manage to hold onto the puck in their zone, the Slovene players look bad while the Slovak players have no idea what they're doing in the offensive zone.

And btw have you seen the Hungary-Poland game? It was pretty high level for a Division I game.
