Sorry for off-topic, but does anyone know name of the song which has been played many times during the breaks in this tournament? It's some kind of disco song and a guy is yelling "make some noise"? ::laugh:

Kazaksh playing trap trailing two goals. Way to go "Helms".

"It's not about winning but losing with tolerable numbers.*"

*occasional win with a 1 goal margin is a plus.

-Finland's offering to the world of hockey. At least pre early 90's/apparently now again.

Belarus or Latvia needs to lose 2 last games. So I guess we hope Latvia to win tonight, since Belarus play against Russia in last game.

Im really hoping for Belarus win today. I've got a feeling they will pull some kind of upset against Russia, whether it be OT or even reg. win.

Latvia on the other hand could very well lose to Switzerland as well, besides if they win even one game in regulation they're ahead of us.

Finland beats the odds and takes a glorious 4-3-win against the mighty Kazakhstan with the power of sisu.

So proud of our boys.

I'm interested to hear what Erkka has to say about this game. I guess it will be something like "very good game from the team". :help:

So the probability of Latvia winning Switzerland is lower than the probability of Belarus winning Russia?

That is absolutely ridiculous.

No, I think many would agree with him.
Guaranteed first spot, a friend of you know who is the host, nudge nudge wink wink

if Belarus lose tonight we'll be on the plane home

Best 4 teams advance from both Groups.

If Belarus get's 3 or more points and Latvia 2 or more then Finland wont advance otherwise it does.

It's also possible for Finland to be 3rd of the Group.
If Belarus wins Latvia in OT they will get 2 points and Latvia only 1, then both of them needs to lose their 2nd game, this will place Finland 3rd with 11 points, Belarus 4th with the same amount but because they lost to us they will need to accept 4th place and finally Latvia would not advance due to being 5th. with 10 points.

I'd say that's more likely than both of them winning their last game also it seems that it's slightly more likely for Finland to advance rather than not.

You don't know Znaroks very well.

It's more of a subconscious thing for the Russian players that will probably decrease their motivation and increase the Belarusian chances a little, but it doesn't change anything fundamentally.

Russia are still going to be very strong favorites in that game (80%-90% chance of winning).

Not to mention that it will be Malkin's first game. :)

Most likely there will be no OT in the Latvia-Belarus game.

The Latvian chances of getting 2 or more points are about 70% vs. Switzerland+Belarus.
The Belarusian chances of getting 3+ points vs. Latvia+Russia are about 60-65%.

So there's roughly a 40-45% chance of Finland not making the play-offs, if I haven't made a mistake somewhere. :)

I forgot Girgensons's suspension was only 1 game but still, Russia couldn't care less about the last game in preliminary round. Belarus will be fired up to get at least that 1 point. Im not saying a Belarus win would be more likely than Latvia win over Switzerland but like i said they only need 1 point from Russia. Belarus got some key guys who can make a big difference against Russia. Besides, Switzerland is not an easy team to beat when they have no pressure and you have all of it. They're still better team than Latvia.

Ya but we don't give a s*** now, we are out anyway :shakehead

Nah, don't think that way. You have to remember how Latvia ruined your chance at a great quarter final game against Canada in Sochi.

Now is your time to steal their quarter final berth.
