GDT: May 12 • Latvia vs. France

France deserved this! And our "magnificent" players just ruined our fine hockey statistics against France. What a bunch of illiterate brats!
 
I think, in the end, justice prevails. Either Austria or Latvia deserved to go down, not France. Tough on Austrians, of course, to be eliminated in this way has to really hurt. But somebody had to be on the losing end.

Tough for Austria but then again it's all fair.

All 3 teams tied at 5 points, but Austria lost to both Latvia and France so that means head-to-head Austria is the worst.
 
Seriously, I feel awful for Austria fans and players, they battled so hard... 5 points and still relegated. I want to cry, damn it. Obviously, It is great that France will stay in elite group.
 
And once again this proves that hockey in Latvia is regressing in speed of light. France just outplayed us like we're some kind of Division I team.
 
What a disgrace. Both France and Latvia should be excluded from the top division for that circus.
 
We nearly lost it all at 0-2 but feels good man!
We are not the best team out there for sure but we battle as hard as we can :handclap:
 
Tough day for Austrian fans, but this may actually be a blessing in disguise. It could help them draw France and Norway in the Olympic qualifications and avoid a tough draw against Germany or Denmark.

long time lurker here.

you don't need to feel bad for us. after the equalizer in the germany game 2 min before the end i banged my head against a wall. but today me and some friends were already expecting the next unfortunate relegation after '09 and '13. only this time it was even more dramatic :(

still, switzerland in qf with 2 victories (if they don't surprisingly win against the czechs tonight), austria relegated with the same amount. could have gone better i guess.

France playing without our first line (Bellemare out, Roussel injured, Da Costa injured, Bech injured and Huet playing 50% game)

Medical staff sent Da Costa in germany (out 3 games) to make a special spline for his knee to be able to play today

Hey this is like cutting the best 100 canadian players off Team Canada :naughty:

I don't. Had Japan not choked on the last game and had gotten just one more point vs lowly Hungary in 2014 Austria wouldn't even be here this year.

And the same two promoted teams get relegated. Thank God Italy didn't make it this year.
