Is it an international rule now that on a hit, if a player in injured, the player who hit him is kicked out? To add fuel to the fire, this will completely abolish any control they have over the rest of the game.

I just don't know what to say about this. I get tired of the "IIHF refs are awful" claims all the time - but with what we've seen this tournament the old maxim remains true.:shakehead

They are though, and it's always been this way. IIHF insists on referees equally selected from the participating countries, inconsistent and incompetent refereeing is what you get when you mix amateur referees who don't share a language and are used to different styles and levels of hockey.

I will wait until the penalty is over to get pissed. The game was great to watch so far and if it doesnt break the game... it is just the usually bad reffing. Otherwise, just start fighting.

What? That is quite hilarious, but we HAVEN'T SEEN it out of the ref's angle. The embellishment makes it hard to judge from pretty much every other angle than this one.

Which makes it even worse. They either called a major penalty with game/tournament altering implications on something they didn't see - or they saw... what exactly? Nothing? No way you can make a kneeing call out of that, no matter what angle you're looking from. Not unless we all missed a flying knee to the forearm at super speed or something.

Team Finland just needs to stay focused and keep thei cool here the rest of the way and not let Russia score on the powerplay to start the second.

If Rinne can keep it a one goal game there will be opportunities yet for Finland.

They just have to play some of that famous patented Swedish hospital hockey.

At least it's a fairly safe guess that there won't be a suspension... to Komarov at least.

Oh, Vinnerborg-level call... So nice to have him back in spirit (and nationality). Komarov was making a clean hit and the Russian player made really weird and dangerous acrobatics to avoid it, there was no way it was Komarov's fault or against the rules. Who was that Russian?

Nord has won ref of the year in Sweden two years in a row. :D

I feel sorry for you guys.. I hope he's good at rebounding from mistakes and doesnt go calling make up penalties. I kinda hope this to be a nice game instead of a ref gong show.

We need to do something with development of defenders in Russia. Now it's like if player can't play in offense he will play in defense. Probably we need to invite some specialists from Sweden.

Very true. No need to be dwelling on it right now though.

I'm calling it now, this referee to be the referee in the Finnish Q-final if Finland wins today..he seems to get quite alot of Finnish games and is always at his worst
