I think any team has to play every game to win. I don't know how a coach could tell his team to lose the game, and then tell them to win the next game. You end up playing whoever it is you play. The Czechs are going to get a boost from their fans whoever they play, but Russia plays every game against teams who have nothing to lose, who are sky high through the ceiling, and who think they can beat the Russians. Win or lose, it will just be another day at the office!

Yep, but we have textbook example: Swedes on Olympics, they threw game but then won gold. And I don't exclude that finns will do the same. Meanwhile I'm convinced we will play today to win

But we wouldn't really even benefit from losing? How is facing Sweden in QF somehow profit? I think they're really dangerous opponent.

This whole losing discussion is ****ing ridiculous. It's not like a short charter flight is going to have any effect on ice. These guys are used to travel.
Czech and Sweden are both good teams so it really doesn't matter who we play.

World class finishers, right?

Oh man, Finnish finishing ability is embarrassing.

Looks like both teams are trying to win. Härski with little miss. Though the pass was readable on yesterdays paper and goalie was on it anyway..

Ruutu with another 1000 dollar miss xD

It would've been beautiful.

Then russian score from "nowhere" (kovalchuck, ect who can shoot) and some one calls this loss "unlucky" after the game...

Nice plays from us though. It's just looks like all our guys are afraid to shoot the puck and when they do, they either miss the goal or the puck all together.

Kovalchuk is captain. Heck yeah! Good choice by Russian coaching staff.
