GDT: May 1 • Canada vs. Latvia

Good opening game for Canada. Took about 10 minutes to settle in, but then after that all Canada as expected. Thought the Seguin-Giroux-Ennis line looked a little off at times, but I'll chalk it up to still trying to work on chemistry.

Otherwise everyone else played well imo.
 
I don't think Hall and Eberle even know RNH is missing. Duchene still has such a baby face.
 
Really strong showing by the Cole Harbour line. Spezza has some definite skill but I really don't like his turnovers.
 
That was a good game Canada! You are definitely going deep this year. This team is on different level than teams from last years but it is obvious when you look at roster. By the way, 16k in attendance, that's not bad!

Oh and I love Canada jerseys, they are awesome. I think I might buy one.

Already looking forward to the next game, really exciting to watch this team.

They are special 100 year anniversary jerseys. After this year, they not be in use. Unless Canada wins of course, then Hockey Canada will perhaps think about continuing with them, not wanting to jinx anything.
 
Couple things I noticed.

- Sid and Mackinnon look good together. I thought Spezza played very average outside of the points.

- Sid working the Couts/G is hilarious.

- Brent Burns has so much talent but always pisses me off by ALWAYS having to shoot.

- Hall and Duchene actually worked really well together.

- Ray Ferraro continues to be an idiot. He stated that if the goalie stays back deep in his crease Crosby will deke. Why Ray? Why would any player deke if the goalie doesn't even come out to challenge?

- Player of the game Bunnies >>> Katy Perry's Sharks.

I think Ferraro is far and away the best color guy and panelist in hockey currently (aside from a guy like Friedman or McKenzie).

Sure, his point was weird...maybe he misspoke...but I find it hard to believe that people could dislike him. He's fantastic and tells it like it is, plus has the knowledge to back up what he says.

Mcdavid would have to stay in school according to the league rules I believe since he's in the states

I agree however he was instrumental on the one goal where he knocked in the rebound just outside the crease.
 
Hamhuis is money, the guy just landed and played extremely well

NHL goalie wouldnt have had their glove where the Latvia goalie had his...Assumption is he thought Sid would deke and was caught off guard when Sid ripped it from the hash marks..
 
Was at the game. Some obvious kinks to work out but the team is looking decent. You can really tell Crosby and mack practice together in the summer. I actually lol at giroux and Crosby being on the pp together. They actually looked pretty good. Knew spezza was going to get player of the game but imo it should have gone to Sid.

The Czech guy sitting next to me was impressed with crosbys penalty shot ("business like").

Highlight of the game for me: this adorable little Czech boy who screamed "go canada go" through the entire game.
