I know there is some talk of him staying in Chicago but assuming he moves and I still think he does What's his value this time?

I don't think he gets a top pick or top pro but he's having a pretty good season so I think he gets more than last year.

I think he'd be an under rated pickup for any contender.

I’ve been saying this since last years deadline. He’s exactly what the leafs can use. I’m convinced this guy would thrive in Toronto and brings something different. Can move up and down the lineup.

I’m a habs fan but this is a trade leafs need to make if I were them. Wouldn’t even cost that much.

I honestly think he’s the type of player that needs a big environment to thrive in. In Columbus and Arizona, he’s forgotten. But Montreal, Chicago, London Knights and WJC…he thrived in all those areas which were all big environments for that age/level

I don't disagree but I'd want a bigger piece first like a ROR out of St Louis or Monahan from you guys.

If they could go into the playoffs wIth something like.

Bunting Matthews Marner

Jarnkork Tavares Marner

Domi ROR/Monahan Engvall.

To me that's ideal, I don't think Domi by himself is enough.

The Leafs have had to go the last 2 games without Matthews and Engvall has been in the top 6, and last night I legitimately believe it was the difference in the game.

To me you can't be 1 injury/illness away from Engvall being in the top 6.

I think the Leafs need 2 guys.

I won't be surprised if it's just a 3rd round pick. Maybe a 2nd if some of the other center's don't get healthy/become available (ROR, Monahan, Horvat, etc...)

Even at 50%?
He's 100th among centers in the NHL in 5v5 points. Granted, some of those centers are really wingers, but even so, he's got 12 ES points this season while playing with Patrick Kane and getting the most ozone starts among forwards.

Most teams that would acquire him at the deadline aren't going to give him prime minutes and top PP unit time like he gets in Chicago right now. They would acquire him to be a bottom 6 forward with possibly 2nd PP unit time.

You can never tell at the deadline what GMs will do so it won't surprise me if he gets a higher return, but I don't think his value is really any more than it was last year where he essentially returned a recent 3rd round draft pick, and that was with double retention.

Domi got very little last year but he’s been better this season

Toronto for a 3rd makes sense to me . They could use winger depth

I don't disagree but like I said eariler in the thread I think you need another piece with him be that ROR, Seen Monahan, or if you could make it work Jonathan Towes.

I think the Leafs need 2 forwards so that Engvall isn't 1 injury or illness away from being in the top 6.

I think that was the difference in the game against and it can't be the difference in the playoffs

Avs are interested in Max Domi, what do you think as return of Kaut + pick 3 round 2024

I don’t see many Avs games. Search their board here and saw the vast majority of Avs fans think Kaut sucks.
Keep him and make the pick a 2nd in 2023.
I'm sûre Kaut can be a good 3rd liner in nhl but not in the avs system. Avs don't have a 2nd pick utiliser 2025

There's no sense in Chicago trading Domi if the return is only a 3rd.
A late 2nd doesn't get me too excited either.
So keep him.

Chicago can always re-sign him in the off-season. He's a UFA so whether you trade him at the deadline or not, he could hit the open market. Why not get a 2nd or 3rd round pick in the meantime? or do you anticipate they'll extend him before he gets to UFA, in which case, it makes sense to hold onto him?

That's a good question and one that I don't have an answer for. I would think KD has a plan contingent upon what the offers are looking like and what Domi is wanting to do going forward. For sure, getting a second and then resigning him in July would be the ideal.

He’s a guy I’d like Dallas to take a hard look at. Wouldn’t break the bank to acquire and could really help the second or third line. Something like a 3rd and a B prospect could work.

Assuming the market continues to be saturated anyway. Its possible he gets a 2nd if some of the guys currently on the block end up being taken off the block for whatever reason.

But as of right now, just in terms of Centers that are likely available and ahead of him you've got Horvat, Toews, and O'Reilly, with Monahan being another one at his level.

Why though?

Given that the Hawks are going full scorched earth rebuild, it's not as if the team is going to be good for minimal 4 years from now. Domi is 27, might as well get something for him if you can, even if it's just a mid round pick.

They could probably even sign him again as a free agent before not too long anyways

Mid round pick and instant buyers remorse. Can't generate offense 5on5, doesn't hit and plays on the perimeter. Considering he can win his fair share of face punching contests he is surprising easy to play against now. Someone will give up a pick or prospect for him and instantly wonder why they did. I notice who the OP is and Domi is a poor man;s Kerfoot. Do you really want that?

He has been really good on the Hawks. I think his value is a 3rd and maybe as high as a2nd if someone is desperate.

If all hawks can get is a 3rd I would prefer they keep him and re-sign him, assuming he will come at a reasonable price. For a 2nd would definitely move him

50% retained he will fetch a 2nd. no retention a 3rd + b/c prospect.

Chicago only has soo many retention spots and I'd assume they would use them to maximize value on Toews and Kane if/when they move. I expect them both to be moved.

Perhaps they take a bad expiring contract back if someone pays the 2nd and no retention spot wasted.

Nobody is going to give up a 2nd instead of a 3rd to save 250k-300k in cap space when he's acquired.
