Player Discussion Mattias Samuelsson, LHD, Hurt Again

He's so meat and potatoes, that I love it. He played so calmly, and I just love his game. This is what McCabe morphed into Super Saiyan style!

So EA had Kjell 2.0’s rating at 73 when I got the game on Christmas. By the May 10th update of new players and ratings, he stayed at 73 and somehow got slower.

Makes sense, especially seeing Tage grew from a 79 to 83, and Bryson went from a 76 to 78.

Scandella replacement. I like it.

Do you want your mid pairing guys to be low IQ but greater skaters like Beaulieu, or high IQ responsible giants that just lack a first step? I stick with the latter- we already have Dahlin.
And Scandella has left the building lol 😄

Looking forward to seeing him grow more this year. Next to Thompson he was my top surprise last year. Not that he made the roster, but that he became a legit top 4 defensive, physical defenseman. His stick work was excellent. Additionally, his ability to play both sides made him a perfect match with Dahlin. So not only did Dahlin get to switch to his higher offense shooting side, but because Samuelsson can play both sides, Dahlin could just go anywhere his instincts took him, and Cobra could switch to cover. His development helped Dahlin's.

I've wondered how much his early injury and absence hurt them in the first few months of the season. His arrival was part of turning the tide of the season.

Also, nothing like the tears of Leaf fans and commentators about "who is Matt Samuelsson" after what he did to them in those late games.

He is The Guy that lets the rest be themselves and can skate and rifle passes along w them .. He was like the calm vet bruiser on the D til booshkin now and Dahlin will take off this year because of him, I think Rasmus is just 23 in his 5th year.. If Samuelson continues he's our most intimidating player in all aspects ..
Look at Pitt game.. yr right

Really doesn't get enough credit for stabilizing our defense. Shut down guy, plays well with Dahlin and brings physicality.
He's kind of like Hulk in that he doesn't shove guys around until you piss him off.

It's also really great that he's grown into this player and it is no longer a lot of commentary about who he wasn't in terms of his drafting. He's a really good defenseman and he's now a really good NHL defenseman.

Yep. The doubts about his skating also, which was always fine. It's still a bit early but 2018 wasn't a great draft yet we nailed our top 2 defensemen. Not much quality left on the board after cobra either.

Also a huge plus of the Mule - Dahlin pair is that they are both physical and can stand up for themselves and for their partner. This is the perfect pair of defenders in every sense.
What could be better , skilled dahlin WANTS to be mule , or better in the Our end . Beautiful.

Some guys just athletes just do what they need to until when pushed we see who they really are. ... I'm hoping that's UPL as well .

The main board is really aging themselves when they go off about how 4.3m is too much money for what will probably become at the very least a top 4 D-man. In this NHL? Infact this is a pretty common theme. For some reason everyone thinks contracts are still being paid out like it's 2010.
