When’s the last time he played an important game and wasn’t “injured”?
How is injured even in quotations?
When he man handled Tampa in game 6 of the 22-23 playoffs to answer your question.

Including the best player in the world alone in the slot for the game winner!

Seems like his health status depends on whether the team wins to meHow is injured even in quotations?

What happened in game 7

He's been injured for a while now. He wasn't healthy in their last playoffs.Crazy how he’s been “injured” for every important game in his entire career and also every game where he played poorly
Sorry I misread as 21-22 playoffsThere wasnt a game 7, they won in 6.
And to the contrary, the team winning depends on his health status. Hard to win when your best players aren’t 100%. Unfortunately for Matthews battling his body and staying healthy has been a struggle.
I’m sureHe's been injured for a while now. He wasn't healthy in their last playoffs.
complete non-factor, again.
softest, most disinterested, soy-boy, bland, no fangs, no grit NOTHING hot-dog player.
its no wonder TML are going nowhere in a hurry.
Eichel was invisible for 2 weeks.
or he'll do what he did vs. Montreal show up first 4 games and then disappear only a week later to see the UFC with Bieber and his crew. He’s saving it all for the playoffs where he will also not do anything
Complete nonfactor? He was the best player in the game with the most points of any player on both teams (tied with Marner).
He definitely played great last night, not sure how anyone can deny itComplete nonfactor? He was the best player in the game with the most points of any player on both teams (tied with Marner).
Also played a role on the GWG.
They lose that game in regulation without him.
The US iced the puck and had 3 bad defensive players on the ice with Canada's top line coming on. The centers job is to support to D-man along the board. It looks bad on him because Hughes was cheating for offense so everyone just assumes it's Matthews guy because Hughes was nowhere to be seen - but the center isn't supposed to be playing man on man with the other teams center.
Hughes didn't switch back when Matthews went in for support. Those two don't play together so there was likely miscommunication on what would happen. That's why that icing was costly.

Ugly defensive lapse on the GWG though
He certainly hasn't cemented himself as a big game player, quite the opposite actually.Crazy how he’s been “injured” for every important game in his entire career and also every game where he played poorly
Jack is the last player to blame on that, lmao. He goes to McDavid and then Marner makes a pass to a vacant point as to where the dman walks to the top the circles in the slightest and if it's a good skating dman, they'll make it to the high slot but the time Hughes tracks back. Fox/Matthews were at fault solely for the GWG
Based on his career playoff performances, I for one am shocked...The best goal scorer in the world had 0 goals in the 3 games he played. I was very surprised to hear this but he was good defensively.
Pretty clear blown coverage by MatthewsIt was a costly icing. The centre is supposed to support the centres on board battles. Matthews went in for support, Hughes didn't realize and come back and then Matthews looks like he just skated away from McDavid and gets blamed for it. The centre isn't supposed to play man on man with the other teams centre. It was the right play but Matthews should have realized he was playing with 2 players who weren't going to circle back and just stayed in front. Matthews was the best offensive and defensive player for US last game - so blaming the whole game on him is quite the reach. Without him it's a 2-0 regulation win for Canada.
