Hard to say without knowing what the team plan was. Maybe they decided on rest and other methods first with surgery as a last resort if the other measures didn’t work.

In a recent interview Matthews said he was following his doctors advice by going for physical therapy first before considering the surgical option. Which is pretty much usually the case for those type of injuries

I hear that but his 3 game salary is roughly 420k, while whoever's replacing him at league minimum is closer to 30k, so I'm assuming that's around 390k less on the cap for this year? I'm not sure how that works

Now what happens if Matthews misses any time during the season? This team does not look like a playoff team without him. They're very top heavy and cannot afford any injuries to those guys.

I’d like to win all three but Ottawa and Montreal games, especially Montreal seem to have an x-factor to them. Regardless of where either team is in the standings I always expect a closer match than it should be.
