I don’t see the big deal. Just start the season healthy and missing 3-5 games isn’t the end of the world.

He can still win the Rocket even with missing those games.

But he didn't need to miss these games they could have easily gotten him the surgery sooner

Shit just got my tickets for Wednesday sent to me today that I bought back in August. Sucks he won’t be playing

Yes.....$11M of dead cap until he returns

Does a player have to be on IR for cap accrual to happen?

If he's already on some kind of IR status, and the season is 29 weeks long ending April 30, 2022, that would be roughly $400,000 of his $11.6 million. Would that go towards any kind of cap savings down the line?

No, only LTIR. IR counts to the cap.

yep , just the cost of a replacement player for 3 games. No LTIR for 3 games missed.
I hear that but his 3 game salary is roughly 420k, while whoever's replacing him at league minimum is closer to 30k, so I'm assuming that's around 390k less on the cap for this year? I'm not sure how that works

damn they really hit us with back to back to back bad news on Thanksgiving lmao. I thought he was in for sure

I'm ok with this as long as he come back 100%.
In fact, I'll be fine if they keep him out till the San Jose game to give him an extra 5-6 days to properly heel.

Yup, this should have been expected when he decided to wait so long into the offseason to do this surgery. Did anyone actually think he would be ready opening night?

This team top to bottom is made up of a bunch of idiots.

Now what happens if Matthews misses any time during the season? This team does not look like a playoff team without him. They're very top heavy and cannot afford any injuries to those guys.

Our record without Matthews in the lineup is actually quite good. What are you talking about?

I hate it when Matthews is hurt and we give him the Kawhi treatment like a uniquely fragile asset. I hope he's back as soon as he's 100% to dominate the league and we don't have to treat him all precious.

After last year, Auston felt bad winning the Rocket by such a big margin so he figured he might as well make it a little more competitive & give the other scorers in the league a head-start.

Was a bit surprised Matthews doesn't play this week, but doesn't matter. Our f***in KILLER CAPTAIN, last season'
s hero in mental, Johnny Tavares WILL TOTALLY KILL THIS WEEK and LEAD HIS FORCES to the nature. Period. I love the fact our CAPTAIN now will lead his squad and team and SHOW THE WORLD only WHAT HE WANTS. WE WILL PREVAIL. Matthews will also kill next week, but this is: Johnny's time now sire.

Stats aside who cares. It only matters in the playoffs. The roster should be able to play well enough without him for a bit and in general.

Everyone realizes these three games are vs Ottawa x2 and Montreal... right? If we can't beat these teams even without Matthews we are in trouble.

I’d like to win all three but Ottawa and Montreal games, especially Montreal seem to have an x-factor to them. Regardless of where either team is in the standings I always expect a closer match than it should be.
